Meleek Thomas Season Outlook: Blocked in Crowded Cavaliers Backcourt
Rookie guard Meleek Thomas faces an uphill battle for playing time in Cleveland's veteran-laden rotation. At just 20 years old, Thomas sits behind star starters Donovan Mitchell and James Harden, which severely caps his path to regular on-court run. Coach Atkinson recently engaged him in practice challenges, but developmental reps will likely take precedence over nightly rotation minutes this season.
Our projections reflect this limited role, forecasting Thomas for 11.4 minutes and 8.1 fantasy points per game across 45 projected appearances. While he displays efficient shooting upside with a projected 41.6% mark from beyond the arc alongside 4.9 points per game, his low overall usage restricts him from compiling meaningful counting stats.
Fantasy managers have responded accordingly, with his roster rate sliding down to 5% and start rate sitting at 0%. Drafted around ADP 140 in early drafts, he is strictly a deep dynasty stash or watch-list candidate in redraft formats until injuries open up backcourt minutes.
