Ryan Helsley | Fantasy Outlook

Ryan Helsley Set to Begin Minor-League Rehab as Elbow Heals

Ryan Helsley has been sidelined since early May with right elbow inflammation, leaving him with no game action over the last 30 days. However, the Orioles closer is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk today. The fourth-place Orioles, currently sitting at 32-37, expect him to need multiple minor-league appearances before rejoining the active roster.

Before landing on the injured list, Helsley was efficient, logging seven saves with an elite 13.24 K/9 rate across 10.2 innings. Our models project him to finish the year with 27 saves, a 3.52 ERA, and 63 strikeouts once he gets back on the mound. Given his track record, including a dominant 48-save season in 2024, he should easily reclaim his high-leverage role.

With Baltimore hosting Seattle and San Diego this week, Helsley will remain unavailable for fantasy lineups while he builds back his arm strength in the minors. Managers should monitor his rehab outings closely but keep him benched for the immediate future. He remains an elite bullpen stash, so keep him locked into your injured list.
