Walbert Urena brings electric velocity and recent dominance into a favorable weekend start
Urena has been sharp of late, punctuated by a seven-inning gem against the Yankees where he yielded just one run and struck out eight without a walk. Anchoring the rotation for a fifth-place Angels squad sitting at 53-87, the young flamethrower has posted a solid 3.53 ERA over his last 14 days.
Across 25 starts this season, Urena has proved his breakout is no fluke by maintaining a 2.90 ERA and striking out 120 batters across 121 innings. While 64 walks on the year illustrate lingering command issues that can occasionally spike pitch counts, his ability to blow triple-digit fastballs past opposing hitters establishes a trustworthy fantasy baseline.
Having already produced a dominant start earlier in this scoring period, Urena finishes his two-start slate on Sunday in Pittsburgh. Opposing ace Paul Skenes makes securing run support tricky, but the Pirates' bats offer plenty of strikeout upside.
