Dylan Crews is emerging as a dynamic speed threat for the Nationals

Crews has been locked in over the last 14 days, batting .320 with nine runs and three stolen bases in 13 games. The fourth-place Nationals currently hold a 45-43 record and are riding a two-game win streak, with Crews solidifying himself as an everyday presence in the outfield since his May recall. Recent reports highlight his ability to turn hard-hit balls into results, overcoming some early-season bad luck at the plate.

His recent surge is a significant step up from his career baseline and our season projection of a .231 batting average. While his .333 average over the last week may face some slight regression, the power-speed combination is finally coalescing as he has already reached five home runs in limited action. Given his high exit velocity and aggressive approach, he is on track to easily exceed our original projection of 10 home runs.

The Nationals host the Pirates for a three-game set to close out the week starting July 3. Crews draws favorable matchups against Mitch Keller and Bubba Chandler, both of whom carry ERAs over 4.60 and WHIPs north of 1.30. While Saturday’s matchup against Braxton Ashcraft and his 3.33 ERA is more difficult, Crews' current three-game stolen base streak and high-scoring lineup context make him a priority. Start.
