Keibert Ruiz has transformed into an elite offensive threat for the Nationals

Ruiz is swinging a red-hot bat, hitting .313 over his last seven days and maintaining a .300 average over his last nine games. He serves as the primary catcher for the fourth-place Nationals, who currently hold a 45-43 record and sit just 1.5 games back in the Wild Card race. Following a critical confidence-boosting meeting with the coaching staff earlier this season, Ruiz has secured his role as a lineup mainstay with consistent run production.

While our season projection originally anticipated a .243 batting average, Ruiz is currently outpacing those expectations with a .285 mark through 56 games. His .475 slugging percentage is a massive leap over his 2025 career baseline, and with six homers already, he is a lock to shatter his projected season total of eight. Given that his strikeout rate remains remarkably low, this power surge appears to be a genuine mid-career breakout rather than a statistical fluke.

Washington welcomes the Pirates for a three-game weekend series starting July 3. Ruiz enjoys excellent matchups against Mitch Keller, who enters with a 5.15 ERA, and Bubba Chandler, who carries a 4.62 ERA. While Saturday's matchup against Braxton Ashcraft and his 3.33 ERA is more difficult, Ruiz's ability to put the ball in play against high-velocity arms makes him a must-start in all fantasy formats.
