Friedl's Deep Slump Limits His Fantasy Appeal for the Week Ahead

TJ Friedl has struggled mightily of late, batting just .143 over his last 10 games with only a single stolen base. His slump comes as the fifth-place Reds (32-35) slide down the standings and deal with injuries to key bats like superstar Elly De La Cruz. Despite the cold stretch, Friedl remains locked in as Cincinnati's everyday center fielder.

While Friedl's current .179 season average is a major disappointment, our models expect him to eventually progress toward his projected .248 baseline. He has proven 15-homer, 20-steal upside in his career, meaning this extreme slump is likely a fluke rather than a permanent decline. Still, his current lack of hard contact makes him a bench candidate until he shows signs of life.

The Reds finish the week with a three-game home stand against Arizona, facing tough left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez (2.52 ERA) before a friendlier matchup against Zac Gallen (5.81 ERA). Given the limited remaining games and his poor current form, fantasy managers should look elsewhere. Verdict: Sit.
