Zach McKinstry remains mired in a prolonged offensive slump despite steady playing time

McKinstry continues to struggle offensively, batting just .154 with three runs and a solitary stolen base over his last 14 days for a fourth-place Tigers club sitting at 67-79. With outfielders Kerry Carpenter and Wenceel Perez sidelined on the injured list, he remains locked in as Detroit's primary right fielder, though he has produced an anemic .164 batting average over his past 23 appearances.

After a productive 2025 season, McKinstry has cratered back to earth, slashing .214 with just four home runs and two stolen bases through 116 games this year. While our projections expected a modest .235 clip, his punchless .457 OPS over the past month confirms this extended slump is a true reflection of his limited offensive profile rather than bad luck.

Detroit closes out the week with three home games against Colorado's vulnerable rotation, drawing Mason Adams and his 1.61 WHIP, Tanner Gordon (5.40 ERA), and Gabriel Hughes (5.81 ERA). Despite the enticing pitching matchups on the schedule, his prolonged lack of extra-base power leaves him entirely off the fantasy radar in all formats. Sit.
