Reese Olson Out for the Season Following Right Shoulder Surgery

Reese Olson has no recent games played as he continues to recover from season-ending right shoulder surgery. The fifth-place Detroit Tigers, who currently sit at a 28-40 record, have placed the right-hander on the 60-day injured list, removing him entirely from the active starting rotation. His loss is a massive blow to a Detroit pitching staff already severely depleted by injuries.

After showing promise over his first three big-league seasons, including a sharp 3.27 ERA across 66.1 innings in 2025, Olson's progress is officially on hold. Our models project zero statistics across the board for him for the remainder of 2026. While he holds long-term keeper appeal, he offers absolutely no rest-of-season redraft value.

The Tigers have matchups against division rivals like the Twins and Guardians this week, but Olson will remain sidelined. With confirmation that he will not throw a pitch at all this year, there is no reason to occupy a roster spot with him. The definitive verdict for Olson in redraft leagues is to drop him.
