Yordan Alvarez remains an elite, locked-in fantasy force amid a hot streak

Our data shows Yordan Alvarez remains an elite force, batting .318 with a stellar .464 on-base percentage over his last seven games. He serves as the primary designated hitter and backup left fielder for the fourth-place Astros, who are currently 31-39 and riding a two-game losing streak. Alvarez's presence in the heart of the order is more crucial than ever with shortstop Carlos Correa sidelined for the season.

Alvarez is having a monster 2026 campaign, hitting .316 with 22 home runs across 69 games, putting him well on track to smash our rest-of-season projection of 30 homers. Comparing this to his career .308 average in 2024 and his current 1.069 OPS, this elite production is no fluke and is fully supported by his outstanding plate discipline.

Looking at the remaining schedule for the week, the Astros travel to Kansas City for three games starting Friday. Alvarez will draw favorable matchups against Luinder Avila, who carries a high 1.60 WHIP, followed by Noah Cameron (3.84 ERA) and Stephen Kolek (3.14 ERA). Given his red-hot form and strong matchups, continue to run him out there with confidence. Verdict: Start.
