Alexander Nikishin | Fantasy Outlook
Nikishin remains sidelined by contract holdout as Hurricanes visit Jets
Alexander Nikishin remains away from the team due to an ongoing contract dispute, leaving him officially designated as out for Saturday's road tilt against the Winnipeg Jets at Canada Life Centre. Fantasy managers have reacted accordingly, with his start rate tumbling down to 12% alongside a noticeable drop in overall roster share. The first-place Hurricanes (6-1-1) enter as road favorites in an average scoring environment against a Winnipeg squad expected to counter with Clay Stevenson (unconfirmed) in net. However, without a resolved deal, the 24-year-old blueliner has yet to make his season debut.
Because of his inactive status, our daily projection pegs Nikishin for a low point expectation with light shot volume and zero fantasy production tonight. Looking across the rest of the week, Carolina has three total games scheduled, including the second leg of a back-to-back tomorrow in Calgary, but our weekly projection expects no fantasy points while he remains unsigned. Until team management and his camp reach a formal resolution, fantasy managers must keep him stashed or look elsewhere for defensive depth. Today's action: Bench.
