Fantasy Baseball Pitchers Who Excelled and Struggled in June: Yusei Kikuchi, Zac Gallen and More

Best and Worst ERAs
Among qualified pitchers last month, Philadelphia's Zack Wheeler (100% rostered) had the best earned run average at 0.58. He made five starts, going 2-1 and allowing four runs (two earned) over 31 innings. Wheeler struck out 42 batters along the way.
Houston's Hunter Brown (100%) had a 1.19 ERA over 30 1/3 innings. He gave up four runs and struck out 39 batters.
Kansas City's Seth Lugo (94%) had a 1.26 ERA over 28 2/3 innings. Lugo allowed four runs and struck out 31 batters last month.
Philadelphia's Ranger Suarez (98%) had a 1.30 ERA over six starts and 41 2/3 innings. He struck out 36 batters and surrendered seven runs (six earned).
Texas' Jacob deGrom (100%) posted a 1.41 ERA over five starts last month. He allowed five runs over 32 innings, while striking out 32 batters.
Some other pitchers who had good/great ERAs last month were: Framber Valdez (100%), Matthew Boyd (94%), Cristopher Sanchez (100%), Tarik Skubal (100%) and Max Fried (100%).
Among some qualified pitchers, some notable fantasy pitchers struggled in June.
Minnesota's Bailey Ober (70%) had a 9.00 ERA over 30 innings. He allowed the 30 runs on 38 hits and eight walks, while striking out 24 batters. Ober was 0-5 and allowed 14 home runs.
Athletics' Luis Severino (24%) allowed 31 runs (28 earned) on 44 hits and 12 walks over 32 2/3 innings last month. He went 1-5 and had just 17 strikeouts along with his 7.71 ERA.
Arizona's Zac Gallen (74%) posted a 6.23 ERA last month. He went 2-2 and struck out 22 batters over 30 1/3 innings. Gallen allowed 23 runs (21 earned) on 34 hits and 10 walks.
Minnesota's Chris Paddack (20%) also had an ERA over six, finishing at 6.06. He allowed 24 runs (22 earned) on 37 hits and five walks, while striking out 23 batters over 32 2/3 innings.
Some other notable fantasy pitchers who struggled in June were: Erick Fedde (35%), Taj Bradley (56%), Dustin May (51%), Jameson Taillon (61%), Andrew Heaney (27%) and Nick Martinez (37%).
Other Pitchers On the Rise
Garrett Crochet (100%) led the league with 55 punchouts in June. San Francisco's Logan Webb (100%) was second with 43 Ks. Wheeler and Spencer Strider (98%) had 42 punchouts each, while Yusei Kikuchi (90%) finished with 41 strikeouts.
Spencer Schwellenbach (100%) covered 36 innings, which trailed just Suarez, Webb and Crochet last month. Strider was fifth with 35 innings pitched.
deGrom and Valdez didn't allow a home run in June. Zack Littell (72%) walked just two batters last month. Colin Rea (18%) only walked three batters.
Other Struggling Pitchers
Severino had the worst WHIP last month at 1.71. Fedde was second at 1.68, while Jose Quintana (34%) was third at 1.65. May sat at a 1.63 WHIP, while Aaron Civale (4%) had a 1.62 WHIP.
Despite Rea's limited walks, he had the second-highest average against him at .302. Only Severino's .312 mark was worse among qualified pitchers.
Using 20 innings as a minimum stat, Walker Buehler (31%) had the worst ERA at 11.07. Zach Eflin (43%) was at 8.72, while Bryce Elder (13%) was at 8.25.
Best and Worst Relievers
Josh Hader (100%) led the league in saves last month with nine. Tanner Scott (95%) and Trevor Megill (84%) had eight saves each. Camilo Doval (69%) tallied seven saves.
Abner Uribe (36%) had nine holds to lead the league. Jared Koenig (4%) had eight holds, while Tyler Rogers (27%), Seranthony Dominguez (9%) and Jeremiah Estrada (19%) had seven holds each.
Ryan Helsley (94%) had three blown saves last month, which led the league.
Bryan Abreu (43%) had the most strikeouts among relievers with 26. Edwin Uceta (2%) struck out 23 batters. Justin Wrobleski (15%) and Reid Detmers (16%) had 21 and 20 strikeouts, respectively
Hader had the most wins as well, racking up four over the month. Robert Suarez (98%) tied for the league lead in losses among relievers with three.
