Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire: Mahle, Lauer Among Tuesday Pitching Targets

Looking for pitching help on Tuesday? These five waiver wire options could be worth adding or streaming.

Let's open Tuesday by discussing some fantasy baseball waiver wire/streaming options. We'll check out pitchers first.

Check back in a bit for an article on waiver wire/streaming hitters to target.

Fantasy baseball waiver wire options can be found all season on FantasySP! The Fantasy Sports Assistant now can answer questions you have after doing team breakdowns or waiver wire analysis!

Tyler Mahle - Atlanta Braves

Mahle has risen 5.94% as he prepares for a start on Tuesday. He is now rostered in 47.95% of fantasy baseball leagues overall.

Mahle will get the ball against the Twins on Tuesday. That's a pretty solid streaming target.

He has been stellar since joining the Braves, allowing just one run on seven hits and two walks over 12 innings. Mahle has 16 strikeouts over that span. Mahle is 4-9 with a 4.64 earned run average over his 20 starts this year, and he has 105 punchouts over 106 2/3 innings.

Mahle is trending up, and the matchup today is right for him to deliver big again. I like him in most deeper leagues, and would also consider him in standard leagues for today's outing. If he pitches well again, he could be worth holding in all deeper leagues, and then trying again in standard leagues, at least until he cools off a bit.

Eric Lauer - Los Angeles Dodgers

Lauer is up to 20.09% and is rising as he gets ready for a Tuesday start.

Lauer gets to face the Rockies on Tuesday. The only issue is that the game is in Colorado, so his fantasy outlook and ceiling are just a touch lower.

He owns a 3.48 ERA over 11 games with LA. Lauer is 6-1 with 37 punchouts over 62 frames. Lauer is 7-6 with a 4.67 ERA over 19 appearances overall, and he has 63 strikeouts over 98 1/3 innings.

Lauer has unsurprisingly pitched better since joining the stacked Dodgers, and the matchup is right for him to deliver big on Tuesday. I like him in most deeper leagues, and would even consider him in standard leagues. If the game weren't in Colorado, he'd almost be a must-start guy today.

Keider Montero - Detroit Tigers

Montero is another starting pitcher streaming option for Tuesday. He's sitting at 51.14% at the start of the day.

He gets a start against the Pirates tonight. It's a pretty good matchup on paper, and Montero has pitched well most of the season.

He's been a bit up and down of late, but sits with a 3.22 ERA over 26 appearances (20 starts) this season. Montero has 86 strikeouts over 128 2/3 innings pitched, and has a 9-7 record.

The lack of strikeouts holds him back a bit, but by limiting runs, Montero is still a good fantasy asset. I see him performing well tonight, and think he's worth deep-league fantasy starts. I'd consider him in standard leagues as well, but the inconsistencies of late give me a little pause and stop him short of being a must-start guy.

Kyle Leahy - St. Louis Cardinals

Leahy is owned in 60.27% of leagues as he gets ready for another start.

He gets a start against the Reds on Tuesday evening. That's another pretty solid matchup on paper.

Leahy has allowed two or fewer runs in nine straight starts - he's 4-0 with a 1.52 ERA and 46 strikeouts over 47 1/3 innings in that stretch. For the season across 23 starts, Leahy is 9-4 with a 3.38 ERA and 105 punchouts over 117 1/3 innings.

He's pitched well most of the season, and is a bit underappreciated in fantasy baseball. Leahy is a good option in this matchup, and should be considered in all fantasy setups. I really like him in deeper leagues, and think he could start in a good amount of standard leagues too.

Steven Cruz - Kansas City Royals

Cruz is rostered in 9.59% of fantasy leagues at the moment. He was at 4.5% back on August 6, and he's mostly been on the rise since then.

His past two appearances have ended in saves, and now he has five on the season. Cruz has a 2-3 record, a blown save and four holds as well.

Cruz has pitched in 44 games overall, and covered 46 1/3 innings. He has a 4.08 ERA, but also 51 strikeouts to his name.

Kansas City isn't the best team to be a closer for, as they don't win a ton, but the wins are usually tight ones, so Cruz is a decent fantasy option. He is worth some deep-league adds, and his own percentage will just keep going up if he keeps earning saves, and pitching well. Look elsewhere for help in standard leagues.
