Season-Ending Knee Injury Derails Promising Year-Two Breakout

Higgins suffered a season-ending torn ACL during joint practices in mid-August, landing him on injured reserve. Houston quickly adjusted its receiver room alongside Nico Collins by trading for Kayshon Boutte and signing veteran depth, confirming Higgins will not see the field in 2026.

The injury halts significant momentum following an encouraging rookie campaign in which he recorded 45 receptions for 563 yards and seven touchdowns. With his campaign over before Week 1, our projections allocate zero fantasy points to him for the year as he focuses on recovery for 2027.

Draft sentiment shifted instantly; after maintaining a stable 1.0 PPR ADP around pick 124 all summer, his market cost plummeted past pick 219 with ownership rapidly dissolving. He holds no redraft value and should be completely avoided in standard drafts, though dynasty managers can safely stash him on IR.
