Kamara Out At Least 1 Month
New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara is expected to miss at least one month with an MCL injury.
He suffered the injury on Tuesday. A one-month recovery could mean Kamara misses some regular season games, so this is a big deal.
Kamara has been the team's lead back over the years, but Travis Etienne was signed this offseason, moving Kamara into a more complementary role. With Kamara banged up, Etienne could shine as the workhorse back.
Etienne's ADP is 39 right now, and after the Kamara injury, that could rise. That's a fair assessment, and it makes Etienne a better fantasy draft pick. I like him up to about pick 30, but no earlier than that, as I believe Kamara will factor in plenty once he's healthy again.
Kamara's ADP is 144.43 right now, so he's a late-round redraft option. I think that was far too late, but the injury means that number is more likely to go down than up. I wouldn't mind grabbing him late in a redraft league, especially if I was a bit thin at RB.
Devin Neal, Kendre Miller and Audric Estime are the next three running backs on the depth chart. We'll have to see who emerges as RB2 behind Etienne while Kamara is out. Whoever owns that role won't be a huge fantasy asset, but they are worth noting in case Etienne were also to get injured before the season.
I'd expect Etienne to power the backfield until Kamara is back, then for Etienne to take the majority of a 60/40-70-30 backfield split with Kamara. If the Saints' offense is good enough, both RBs could be fantasy assets in 2026.
The injuries are piling up already, as along with Kamara, rookie wide receiver Jordyn Tyson is expected to miss a couple months with a hamstring injury. Things could be rough for the Saints' offense in the first couple weeks, but fully healthy, the unit could be tough to slow.
Harris Signs with Giants
The New York Giants added a veteran running back to the mix, signing Najee Harris to a one-year deal on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old only got in three games last season before suffering a major injury. Harris was a good fantasy asset while with the Steelers in the first four years of his NFL career, but now he looks like a better RB2, and that's what he looks destined to be, at best, for the Giants.
Cam Skattebo is the projected starter for the Giants. He is coming off a major injury of his own, which made the Harris signing a justified move. Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Devin Singletary are two more RB options.
Skattebo's ADP is 40.57. I don't see that being altered too much after Harris was added to the mix. Maybe it will help fantasy owners land him a bit later in drafts, which I would already prefer.
Tracy's ADP is 129.29, while Singletary is sitting at 347.86. Having Harris around means one of those two backs could be cut/traded before the season, so I would only be interested in drafting those three backs in deeper redraft leagues, not standard ones.
I don't see Harris carving out a huge role for New York, but an injury or trade/release could open the door for a bit more. I like Skattebo the best of the four running backs we've mentioned, and think he leads the way if he's healthy all season.
The other running backs on the team are not likely to be huge fantasy assets, so just stash them in deeper leagues. They can be added in standard leagues if Skattebo is ever injured, or if they carve out consistent weekly roles on offense.
Coleman Dealing with Sprain
Buffalo Bills wide receiver Keon Coleman has a sprained foot/toe that he suffered in the team's preseason game on Saturday. He didn't practice on Tuesday and was wearing a walking boot.
The 23-year-old hasn't taken off in his NFL career like many expected him to, and an injury before the regular season even hits doesn't help his chances of taking off in 2026.
Coleman is projected to start, but after D.J. Moore was traded for and with Khalil Shakir around, Coleman looks like WR3 at best. The injury could mean Joshua Palmer or rookie Skyler Bell push Coleman for playing time and production now.
Moore is the top-drafted Buffalo wideout so far, going at pick 52 on average. That's a solid spot for who could be the team's clear No. 1 wideout. I like him best as a third fantasy WR though, as we don't know exactly how he's going to perform with his new team, and to what consistency.
Shakir is going at pick 131.29 on average. I don't mind taking a late stab at him in redraft leagues, and I definitely like Shakir near that spot in deeper redraft setups.
Coleman was at pick 261.57 before this injury, and he's likely to only drop from there. So he's just a deep-league fantasy asset, but is also someone to keep tabs on in case he takes off finally.
Palmer and Bell are two others to possibly stash in some deeper redraft leagues, in case injuries occur, or one of them overtakes Coleman.
