Fired Up for a Breakout Under Mike McDaniel

Quentin Johnston enters the 2026 season with massive wind at his back. The Chargers exercised his fifth-year option, solidifying his status as a key pillar in an offense now coordinated by Mike McDaniel. Listed as a starting outside receiver on the depth chart, Johnston's role is set to expand in a scheme designed to maximize his yards after the catch.

After posting back-to-back eight-touchdown campaigns, our projections slate Johnston for 54 receptions, 772 yards, and six scores. With Justin Herbert distributing the ball, Johnston should easily outpace his previous career-highs in targets and receptions. While Ladd McConkey commands the slot, Johnston projects as the primary big-play threat on the perimeter.

His shifting market price reflects this growing optimism. Johnston's ADP has steadily climbed from late-round flyer status in May to around pick 103 in late June. At this price point in PPR formats, our models view him as a value opportunity, offering high-upside WR3 depth with room to grow.
