AJ Smith-Shawver - Atlanta Braves
Smith-Shawver is rostered in 17.49% of fantasy baseball leagues as he prepares to make a start on Wednesday.
Smith-Shawver is getting a start against the Twins, who are a decent streaming target. It will be his second big league start of 2026.
He went 4 1/3 innings in his first big league appearance this year, and allowed two runs on four hits and two walks, while striking out four. Smith-Shawver has a career 3.79 earned run average in the big leagues, but that covers just 17 appearances (16 starts). Health has been an issue, and continues to be.
The matchup is solid today, and Smith-Shawver is a decent fantasy asset, but I wouldn't trust him outside of deeper leagues. He just hasn't shown enough in the big leagues to stream him in standard leagues, especially on a full day of MLB action.
Dustin May - Milwaukee Brewers
May has risen 3.31% today, bringing his overall mark to 60.71%.
May gets the ball against the Mariners on Wednesday - Milwaukee beat Seattle 22-0 on Tuesday. Seattle continues to be a pretty solid streaming target.
May has been very good in his first two starts with the Brewers, going 1-0 with a 2.08 ERA over 13 innings so far. He's allowed three runs on seven hits and five walks, while also striking out 11. May has a 4.13 ERA over 23 starts overall, while tallying 117 punchouts over 122 innings.
He's trending up with the Brewers, and in this matchup, I would be OK with streaming him in any fantasy league. Definitely try him in deeper leagues, and he should also be a pretty high-end option in standard leagues.
Tanner Scott - Los Angeles Dodgers
Scott is up 2.39% today, and now at 66.07% overall.
Scott is rising again after Edwin Diaz was placed back on the injured list with a neck injury. Scott has earned 16 saves this season, being the top option when Diaz was out for a couple months earlier in the season.
He has appeared in 53 games overall, and sits with a 1-3 record, the 16 saves, two blown saves and 12 holds. Scott has pitched 49 innings, striking out 62 batters along the way. He has a 2.20 ERA.
Scott has pitched well this season, and now with a chance for saves again on the most talented team in the league, Scott is a good fantasy asset. Add him in deeper leagues for sure, and don't be afraid to scoop him up and utilize him in standard leagues until Diaz is back in the mix, or someone else is clearly the top closer.
Mason Montgomery - Pittsburgh Pirates
Montgomery is rostered in 17.04% of leagues after being at 11.11% back on August 15.
He has worked the ninth inning in three of his four appearances this month, so it appears that he's the leader for saves in Pittsburgh. Montgomery has four saves on the year, with two coming this month.
Montgomery is 4-3, with the four saves, two blown saves and nine holds over 50 appearances. He's pitched 48 1/3 innings, striking out 78 batters along the way. Montgomery owns a 3.54 ERA.
He's pitched well most of the season, and now serving as the Pirates' closer, his fantasy value is bumped up. Montgomery is worth some adds/utilization in deeper leagues. Pittsburgh would need to win more often to give Montgomery standard league fantasy value, so that's something to track.
Walbert Urena - Los Angeles Angels
Urena has been added in 3.74% of fantasy leagues - he's at 64.73% overall now.
He will start against the Astros on Wednesday afternoon. That's an OK streaming matchup, but Urena is more on the rise because of how he's pitched this season.
Over 22 appearances (20 starts), Urena is 8-8, but with a 2.67 ERA. He's worked 107 2/3 innings, striking out 102 along the way. This will be his fourth appearance made against Houston - in two starts, he's 1-0 with just one run allowed over 11 innings pitched.
I like Urena as a fantasy asset, and toss in the matchup and his results against them this season and he becomes an even better option for the day. Stream him, and hold him, in all deeper leagues. I'm good with streaming him in standard leagues, and possibly keeping him in those leagues too.
