Fantasy Baseball Hitters Who Excelled and Struggled in June: Tyler Freeman, Paul Goldschmidt and More
Looking at hitting stats from the month of June to see what fantasy hitters are trending up and down.
Usually, Tuesday is the day that I go over the top fantasy baseball hitters from the previous week. Well, this week's story lands on the first of the month, so we will instead look at stats from the entire last month of play.
In this article, we'll look at fantasy hitters on the rise and fall. Check back later for a similar story, but on pitchers.

Best and Worst Averages
Tampa Bay's Yandy Diaz (96% rostered) had the top average in June. He hit .400, collecting 40 hits over 25 games and 100 at-bats. Diaz had four doubles, five homers and a triple among the hits, along with 16 runs scored, 13 RBIs, 11 walks and 14 strikeouts.
Colorado's Tyler Freeman (22%) has a .373 average over 75 at-bats. He had five doubles and a triple and homer among his 28 total hits, while also posting 14 runs scored, eight RBIs, 12 walks, six stolen bases and just four strikeouts.
Houston's Jeremy Pena (96%) had a .361 average over 97 at-bats, but was just placed on the injured list with a rib injury. Detroit's Riley Greene (98%) and Atlanta's Ronald Acuna Jr. (100%) each had .360 averages in June.
Greene had nine doubles and six homers among his 36 total hits. He also posted 23 RBIs, 16 runs scored, seven walks and 29 strikeouts. Acuna had six homers and three doubles among his 32 total knocks, along with 26 runs scored, 12 RBIs, 23 walks, four stolen bases and 27 strikeouts.
Among some other hitters with high averages were: Ernie Clement (50%), Brooks Lee (32%), Elly De La Cruz (100%), Hunter Goodman (92%), Jonathan Aranda (79%), Alejandro Kirk (81%), Brandon Lowe (93%), Christian Yelich (97%), Max Muncy (91%) and Jake Meyers (19%).
Among qualified hitters, New York Yankees' Paul Goldschmidt (88%) and San Francisco's Jung Hoo Lee (77%) had the worst average at .143.
Goldy had 12 hits, including two doubles and home runs. He also posted 11 runs scored, four RBIs, nine walks, a stolen base and 22 strikeouts. Lee had 12 hits (including three doubles and four triples), along with 14 runs scored and walks, three RBIs, a stolen base and nine strikeouts.
Atlanta's Michael Harris II (75%) had a .148 average last month. He had 13 hits, including three homers and a double. Harris had five runs scored, 10 RBIs, no walks, a stolen base and 25 strikeouts as well.
Among some other hitters with poor averages in June were: Rhys Hoskins (36%), Brenton Doyle (39%), Jac Caglianone (53%), Josh Jung (40%), Matt Wallner (10%), Max Kepler (5%), Carlos Santana (18%) and Lars Nootbaar (46%).
Other Hitters on the Rise
Arizona's Eugenio Suarez (100%), New York Mets' Juan Soto (100%), Los Angeles Angels' Jo Adell (61%) and Seattle's Cal Raleigh (100%) all homered 11 times last month.
Acuna led the way in runs scored. Soto was second with 25 runs scored. Arizona's Ketel Marte (100%) and De La Cruz scored 24 times each. Muncy, Lowe and Raleigh all scored 22 runs.
Suarez and Raleigh led the way with 27 RBIs each. Muncy and Marte finished with 24 RBIs each. Boston's Trevor Story (41%) and Greene had 23 RBIs each. San Diego's Manny Machado (100%), Chicago Cubs' Ian Happ (96%), New York Mets' Pete Alonso (100%) and Miami's Otto Lopez (57%) all drove in 22 runs last month.
Soto led the way with 25 walks. Acuna drew 23 walks, while LA Angels' Mike Trout (100%) and Texas' Corey Seager (96%) had 22 walks each.
Pittsburgh's Oneil Cruz (97%) was the leader in stolen bases with nine. Kansas City's Maikel Garcia (100%), Washington's CJ Abrams (98%) and Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong (100%) all swiped eight bases.
Acuna had the top on-base percentage at .491. Freeman was second with a .478 mark, and Soto was third at .474. Diaz was fourth at .469, while Muncy took fifth at .459.
Other Struggling Hitters
Among the guys who scored the fewest number of runs among qualified hitters last month, Harris, Andres Gimenez (32%) and Ozzie Albies (88%) stand out. Gimenez and Harris had five runs scored each, while Albies only had six.
Among the notable hitters in the bottom 10 in fewest RBIs, Lee, Goldschmidt, Meyers, Caglianone, Freddie Freeman (100%), Clement, Steven Kwan (98%) and Jarren Duran (98%) stand out. Meyers and Caglianone only had four RBIs last month. Freeman, Clement, Kwan and Duran all had just five.
Aaron Judge (100%) struck out a league-high 42 times last month. Kyle Schwarber (100%) was at 38 Ks. Ryan McMahon (30%), Cruz and Lawrence Butler (92%) all struck out 37 times.
Harris had the lowest OBP last month, getting on at just a .165 clip. Doyle had a .184 OBP and was the only other qualified hitter below a .200 mark.
