Arizona’s Zac Gallen, Miami Marlins’ Valente Bellozo and Cubs’ Shota Imanaga all had scoreless starts of more than six innings.
Imanaga was the star of the night, tossing the first seven innings of a combined no-hitter. He got the win and only allowed two walks. Imanaga struck out seven batters.
Gallen struck out eight over six innings and got a win. He too didn’t allow a hit, but he did walk four batters.
Bellozo allowed three hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out one and did not earn a decision.
Kansas City’s Seth Lugo and St. Louis’ Sonny Gray allowed a run over seven innings each.
Lugo allowed his run on six hits and one walk, while striking out four. He got the win.
Gray didn’t earn the decision after giving up four hits and a walk. He struck out seven batters.
Angels’ Griffin Canning was a winner after working 6 2/3 innings. He allowed a run on four hits and four walks, while striking out seven.
Washington Nationals’ MacKenzie Gore didn’t get a decision despite allowing just one run over six frames. He allowed a hit and walk, while striking out nine.
Cincinnati’s Nick Martinez struck out seven over 5 2/3 innings and got a win. He allowed four runs (one earned) on six hits and three walks.
White Sox’s Jonathan Cannon also got a win after working 5 2/3 innings. He gave up a run on five hits and a walk, while punching out four.
Texas’ Nathan Eovaldi, Philadelphia’s Cristopher Sanchez and Atlanta Braves’ Charlie Morton all earned wins after giving up two runs in their starts.
Eovaldi gave up four hits and three walks over seven frames, while striking out six.
Sanchez struck out seven over seven innings. He allowed six hits and no walks.
Kirby punched out nine over six innings. He gave up six hits and no walks.
Toronto Blue Jays’ Bowden Francis (6), Boston Red Sox’s Tanner Houck (7) and Los Angeles Dodgers’ Bobby Miller (8) all had high strikeout numbers, but were tagged with losses.
Top Relief Pitchers
Texas’ Kirby Yates, Philadelphia’s Carlos Estevez, Atlanta’s Raisel Iglesias, Kansas City’s Lucas Erceg and St. Louis’ Ryan Fernandez all earned saves on Wednesday.
Yates retired the only batter he faced to grab his save.
Estevez allowed a walk in his inning of work, but struck out two to put up a zero.
Iglesias struck out two in his inning of work. He allowed a walk as well, but no runs.
Erceg retired all three batters he faced, striking out one of them.
Fernandez walked a batter intentionally, but struck out three to escape with the save.
Milwaukee Brewers’ DL Hall tossed four scoreless innings out of the bullpen. He walked two, but struck out four.
Minnesota’s Scott Blewett tossed 2 2/3 scoreless innings. He walked two and struck out one, while striking out three.
Cleveland Guardians’ Eli Morgan struck out four over two scoreless innings. He allowed a hit.
