4 Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Hitters to Target Thursday
These four hitters are widely available and could help fantasy managers in need of short-term production.
Let's go over another round of fantasy baseball waiver wire hitting options!
Here are our stories from Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, plus a starting pitcher streaming article for Thursday.
Fantasy baseball waiver wire options can be found all season on FantasySP! The Fantasy Sports Assistant now can answer questions you have after doing team breakdowns or waiver wire analysis!
Vinnie Pasquantino - Kansas City Royals
Pasquantino has risen 1.82% so far today, and he is now rostered in 44.09% of fantasy baseball leagues overall.
Pasquantino had three hits on Wednesday. He popped a home run, drove in two runs, walked once and scored three runs. Pasquantino has six knocks over a three-game hitting streak, with two doubles in there, plus another RBI.
He's logged 82 games and 349 plate appearances so far in the 2026 season. Pasquantino has a .243 average and .327 on-base percentage. He also has 13 doubles, seven home runs and two triples among his 74 total hits. Pasquantino has tallied 36 RBIs, 37 runs scored, four stolen bases, 38 walks and 60 strikeouts.
It's been an underwhelming fantasy season from Pasquantino, but he is trending up as the season winds down a bit. The first baseman is a better deep-league fantasy asset right now, but if he keeps delivering at the plate, he could sneak back into some standard leagues. Give him some consideration if you need first base or infield help for a little while.
Jeff McNeil - Athletics
McNeil has been added in 2.28% of leagues - he sits at 18.64% overall.
He is another player riding a three-game hitting streak right now. McNeil has a double and a home run among the knocks in that span, plus has four RBIs and two runs scored.
McNeil has a .264 average and .318 OBP over his 111 games and 383 plate appearances this season. He's got 92 hits as well, including 16 doubles and six home runs. McNeil has posted 43 RBIs, 35 runs scored, six stolen bases, 25 walks and 44 strikeouts.
He's mostly played second base, but should also be eligible at first base. McNeil could be eligible in the outfield, or other positions, so the more spots he can slot in, the better his fantasy value is.
McNeil is another guy who is just a deep-league fantasy asset, but don't overlook him. He can be a short-term option at the very least, and if he keeps hitting, you might as well keep utilizing him. He could even work into standard leagues in a few days if he keeps rolling, so don't lose track of him.
Rafael Flores Jr. - Pittsburgh Pirates
Flores sits at 12.73% rostered right now. He was not owned as of August 14.
Flores got in seven big league games a season ago, and has logged just 19 games so far in 2026. He was nothing special in 2025, but has delivered big in 2026.
Over 56 plate appearances so far, Flores has a .313 average and .411 OBP. He has six home runs and two doubles among his 15 total hits, while also posting 12 RBIs, 10 runs scored, eight walks and 15 strikeouts.
He popped two home runs on Wednesday and has 11 of his hits since August 7, which spans nine games. Flores has a .393 average and .452 OBP over 31 plate appearances in that span.
Those numbers won't keep up, but he's worth utilizing until he fades off a bit. The primary catcher is also playing some first base, so he's getting in the lineup often now. Take advantage of that and stream Flores until his bat cools off.
He's likely to top out as a deep-league fantasy asset, but if he keeps producing, he could sneak into standard leagues.
Joey Ortiz - Milwaukee Brewers
Ortiz is owned in 7.37% of fantasy leagues at the moment. He's sat closer to 5% the past few days.
He has two two-hit games in a row. Ortiz homered and drove in four runs on Wednesday, and has four runs scored and a walk over the past two ballgames.
Ortiz has now played in 104 games this season, logging 312 plate appearances. He has a .252 average and .318 OBP so far, along with 37 RBIs, 36 runs scored, eight stolen bases, 29 walks and 58 strikeouts. Ortiz has 11 doubles, seven home runs and two triples among his 69 total knocks.
Ortiz started the season as the Brewers' everyday shortstop, but hit poorly and then was moved to third after Cooper Pratt was called up. Ortiz has hit much better since then, and is worth re-adding in some fantasy leagues as a result.
He's just a deep-league asset, but with third base and shortstop eligibility, you should be open to maybe streaming him in standard leagues eventually if he remains hot at the plate.
