It's a short day on the MLB schedule today, with just nine games on the docket (and one of those is a makeup game from a June 11 rainout between the Braves and White Sox). That leaves us a little short on fantasy players and streamers, but we still have a strong group of available pitchers to choose from today if you're in need of innings.

Let's look at four starting pitchers in action on Thursday who are widely available in fantasy leagues and have good matchups. Most stats are from MLB.com, as are the probable starters. The full streamer rankings are listed at the bottom.

Use FantasySP's waiver wire tool to find the players who are being added to fantasy rosters most often!

Robert Gasser, Milwaukee Brewers vs. Seattle Mariners

Gasser has made 14 starts in the majors this season, also spending time in the minor leagues. His numbers at the highest level have been very average other than doing very well with walks and allowing too many home runs; he's been perfectly serviceable. Gasser's strikeout rate is right about average, but he was better than that in the minor leagues, bringing hope that he can improve that number with more innings (he only has 107 in his career). Gasser missed most of 2024 and 2025 with Tommy John surgery, so he will probably get more consistent innings moving forward to show his true level.

The Mariners continue to be one of the worst offensive teams in baseball. They rank in the bottom five in runs, hits, doubles, batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, and OPS. While they are right in the middle in home runs, Seattle isn't doing anything else at a real level of note, and their strikeout rate is just outside the top 10, setting a nice ceiling. We'll go after the Mariners every day that we can with opposing pitchers.

Gasser is a low-to-mid-level streamer. We could consider bumping him up another level due to his decent rates and the great matchup, but Gasser hasn't shown great work in the majors yet, so it's worth showing just a little restraint (though I like his outlook here).

Michael McGreevy, St. Louis Cardinals @ Cincinnati Reds

Cincinnati has hit home runs at a good rate this season, ranking in the top 10 in that category. They have failed nearly everywhere else, though, ranking in the bottom five in runs and OPS and dead last in hits, batting average, and on-base percentage. While the Reds are also in the top 10 in walks, they have struck out more often than any other team, only behind the Pirates in total Ks but striking out more often per game. That high ceiling makes them an attractive opponent, though the ball can fly out of the park on the wrong days.

In just over 250 career innings, McGreevy has consistently been very good with walks but also well below average with strikeouts. While he has been average allowing runs and hits, McGreevy has worked at a high level limiting runs this season, keeping his ERA under 3.50. He was right in the middle last year in that area, and it could be fair to say he's been a little lucky this year, but McGreevy has done some of his best work lately, particularly pumping up his K rate in a very small sample.

McGreevy is a low-to-mid-level streamer. Though he has had a successful season, his low strikeout rate generally caps his ceiling. Cincinnati's swing-and-miss ways raise that ceiling a bit, but it's hard to expect big numbers in that area.

Landen Roupp, San Francisco Giants @ Cleveland Guardians

Roupp is having his worst season in terms of run prevention, but his work in other areas has been strong, including better-than-average work with hits and strikeouts and fantastic work limiting home runs. He walks too many guys, which could help explain why he's giving up more runs, but there's also a little bad luck involved in that area (and his ERA is still average). While Roupp is likely to see better results moving forward, he is in a bit of a cold streak, allowing at least four earned runs in three of his past four starts.

Cleveland's season-long numbers are largely that of a bottom-five offensive team, ranking in that lowly group in runs, hits, home runs, batting average, slugging percentage, and OPS. While their numbers over the past month are better, they still show up often in the bottom 10 in many box stats during that time and not better than average in hardly any area (they do draw walks at a good rate). The Guardians don't strike fear into the hearts of opposing pitchers. Jose Ramirez now has a few doubles, but he still hasn't hit a home run since returning from the IL on July 22.

Roupp is a mid-level streamer. He has been better than some of his superficial numbers show, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see him improve the rest of the way, and the matchup sets a nice floor.

Ian Seymour, Tampa Bay Rays vs. Toronto Blue Jays

The Blue Jays went through a stretch recently where they were maybe the worst offensive team in baseball. Their numbers over the past 30 days now look more like those of a middling lineup, but Toronto ranks poorly over the full season in many areas, including bottom-four rankings in home runs, slugging percentage, and OPS. While the Blue Jays don't strike out, they also don't draw many walks, offsetting that a bit. We will continue to go after Toronto until they show sustained success; they're running out of time.

Seymour is owned in a little over 50% of leagues, making him a fringe streamer, but there's enough availability to make it worth checking on him given the shorter schedule and the positive matchup. His numbers are mostly strong, including a well-above-average strikeout rate, but Seymour has made just 10 starts versus 29 relief appearances, and almost every pitcher does better working out of the bullpen, so we can take those numbers with a grain of salt. Still, Seymour has done fantastic work lately, allowing six runs with three walks and 25 strikeouts in 18 innings in August.

Seymour is a mid-level streamer. His impressive strikeout work gives him a big ceiling, though Toronto doesn't K much and has been better lately; there's still a good outlook in this one.
