Joshua Baez is locked in as a high-upside power option for the weekend

Baez has caught fire over the past week, slashing .333/.368/.889 with two home runs and four doubles over his last six games. Cemented as the everyday left fielder for an even 70-70 Cardinals squad riding a two-game winning streak, the rookie is enjoying consistent run with outfield depth thinned by injuries. His explosive bat has provided an immediate spark during the club's playoff push.

Under the hood, Baez's overall .203 batting average and 23 strikeouts in 18 career games reveal an all-or-nothing profile. While his contact rate indicates inherent batting average risk and inevitable cold streaks, his power is legit after swatting six homers in 59 at-bats. Fantasy managers should brace for batting average volatility, but the extra-base pop is well worth chasing.

Looking at the remaining slate this week, Baez faces a tough matchup Thursday against Dodgers ace Tarik Skubal and his 2.90 ERA.
