Premium Insurance Option Behind Joe Burrow Offers Late-Season Contingency Value

Now entering his 19th NFL season, veteran signal-caller Joe Flacco joins Cincinnati to serve as the direct backup behind starter Joe Burrow. After starting 14 games for Cleveland last year and passing for 2,662 yards and 16 touchdowns, the 41-year-old remains a highly capable insurance policy. If called upon, he is surrounded by elite weapons like Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.

Our projections estimate a highly restricted role if Burrow stays healthy, forecasting Flacco for just 335 passing yards and two touchdowns. Consequently, he has a tiny 14% rostership and virtually no active starting share in typical leagues. He remains strictly a stash for superflex formats or deep leagues.

In draft circles, Flacco's ADP has fluctuated wildly over the summer but has recently settled around 501 overall. While the market correctly treats him as a late-round afterthought in standard single-QB formats, his proven veteran presence makes him a valuable safety net to secure off the waiver wire if injury strikes the Bengals' starter.
