Top Hitters
Oakland Athletics’ Brent Rooker led the MLB with eight hits over the weekend. He singled five times, doubled once and hit two home runs. He also drove in four runs, scored three times and stole a base, while avoiding a strikeout.
St. Louis Cardinals’ Paul Goldschmidt and Oakland’s Lawrence Butler both posted seven hits.
Goldschmidt had four doubles and three singles. He drove in a run and also struck out twice.
Butler had three singles and doubles and one home run. He drove in two, scored three runs, stole a base and also struck out once.
New York Mets’ Jesse Winker, Milwaukee Brewers’ Willy Adames and Jackson Chourio, Chicago Cubs’ Dansby Swanson, Cleveland Guardians’ Josh Naylor, St. Louis Cardinals’ Jordan Walker and Toronto Blue Jays’ Will Wagner all tallied six weekend hits.
Winker had four singles, a double and a home run. He drove in three runs, scored three times and struck out once.
Adames had four home runs and two singles. He drove in eight runs, scored six times, walked once, stole a base and struck out twice.
Swanson had four singles and two doubles for his hits. He drove in three runs, scored three times and also struck out on three occasions.
Naylor had four singles and two doubles as well. He drove in four runs, scored twice, walked once and was not a strikeout victim.
Walker had five singles and a home run. He drove in three runs, scored four times, stole a base and struck out five times.
Chourio had three singles, two doubles and a home run. He drove in a run, scored twice, walked once, stole a base and struck out once.
Wagner posted four singles, a double and a home run. He scored three runs, drove in two and was not a strikeout victim.
Los Angeles Angels’ Mickey Moniak joined Adames with more than two home runs on the weekend. Moniak hit three homers among his four total knocks. He drove in four, scored three runs, walked once and struck out twice.
Cubs’ Nico Hoerner and Arizona Diamondbacks’ Corbin Carroll each scored five runs over the weekend.
Hoerner had five singles and a walk over his three games played. He drove in two runs, stole a base and struck out twice.
Carroll had two singles, a double and two home runs. He drove in four runs, walked twice, had a sacrifice fly, stole a base and struck out once.
Arizona’s Eugenio Suarez drove in five runs. He accomplished that on a single and two home runs. Suarez scored three runs, had two sacrifice flyouts and struck out once.
Los Angeles Dodgers’ Freddie Freeman, St. Louis’ Lars Nootbaar and Houston Astros’ Jeremy Pena drove in five runs each.
Freeman had two singles and two home runs for his four weekend hits. He scored twice and also struck out on two occasions.
Nootbaar had two singles, two doubles and a home run this weekend. He scored three runs and struck out once.
Pena had two singles, a double and a triple for his four hits. He scored a run, had a sacrifice flyout and also struck out twice.
San Diego Padres’ Jurickson Profar had one hit (a single) but also walked seven times. He drove in a run, scored twice, stole two bases, had a sacrifice flyout and struck out three times.
Seattle Mariners’ Julio Rodriguez had four singles, a home run and four walks this weekend. He drove in four runs, scored three times, stole a base and struck out once.
Cubs’ Isaac Paredes and Arizona’s Jake McCarthy each had four weekend hits and were plunked by two pitches.
Paredes had four singles and three walks. He drove in three runs, scored three times and struck out once.
McCarthy had three singles and a double. He drove in two runs, scored three times and struck out twice.
Pittsburgh Pirates’ Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Milwaukee’s Brice Turang each stole three bases this weekend.
Kiner-Falefa had three singles over his three games played. He was also hit by a pitch, scored three runs and struck out once.
Turang had three singles and a double, while also walking twice. He drove in two runs, scored once and struck out on three occasions.
Top Starting Pitchers
Detroit Tigers Tarik Skubal had the longest start of the weekend, working eight innings. He earned the win after allowing a run on four hits, while striking out eight and walking none.
Cleveland’s Alex Cobb earned a win after tossing six innings. He allowed an unearned run on two hits, while striking out six and walking none.
Philadelphia Phillies’ Zack Wheeler also was a winner. He tossed seven shutout innings, allowing four hits, while striking out seven and walking none.
Toronto’s Jose Berrios got a win after working six scoreless frames. He allowed three hits and one walk, while punching out five.
Mets’ Sean Manaea got a victory after working seven shutout innings. He gave up two hits and two walks, while striking out five and hitting a batter.
Minnesota Twins’ Pablo Lopez got a win after tossing 7 2/3 scoreless frames. He surrendered six hits, while striking out three and walking none.
Astros’ Framber Valdez didn’t get a decision despite working seven hitless innings. He did allow three walks and hit a batter, but struck out seven to work out of trouble.
Houston’s Ronel Blanco got a win after tossing five scoreless innings. He gave up three hits and four walks, while striking out three.
Boston Red Sox’s Tanner Houck didn’t earn a decision after working six scoreless. He allowed three hits and two walks, while also hitting two batters. Houck struck out six.
Miami Marlins’ Adam Oller worked six scoreless innings but didn’t earn a decision. He gave up two hits and two walks, while punching out eight.
Milwaukee’s DL Hall tossed seven scoreless innings and got a victory. He gave up four hits and one walk, while striking out five.
Pittsburgh’s Luis L. Ortiz was a winner after working six shutout innings. He allowed one hit and three walks, while striking out five.
Minnesota’s Bailey Ober allowed just one run on one hit and three walks over six innings. He didn’t earn a decision and finished with eight strikeouts.
Toronto’s Yusei Kikuchi struck out 12 over seven innings while picking up a win. He allowed a run on five hits and no walks.
Top Relief Pitchers
Milwaukee’s Devin Williams, Miami’s Calvin Faucher and Minnesota’s Jhoan Duran all earned two saves this weekend.
Williams faced 10 batters over his two innings. He worked around three walks and a hit batter and struck out three.
Faucher retired the six batters he faced this weekend. He struck out five of them.
Duran faced seven batters over his two innings. He allowed a hit and also hit a batter, but struck out one.
Detroit’s Brant Hurter worked five innings and got a win out of the pen. He allowed a run on six hits, while striking out five and walking none.
Mets’ Edwin Diaz struck out five of the six batters he faced this weekend. He earned one save.
