Cubs 9, Orioles 2
Jameson Taillon improved to 6-4 after pitching the first six innings for Chicago. He allowed two runs on four hits and a walk, while striking out seven. Taillon has a 2.99 earned run average for the season now.
Dean Kremer fell to 4-5 after allowing seven runs (five earned) on seven hits and three walks over four frames. He struck out three batters.
Guardians 9, Tigers 8 (10 inn.)
Ben Lively started for Cleveland, allowing six runs on seven hits and a walk over 5 1/3 innings. He struck out four batters.
Nick Sandlin pitched next and was charged with a blown save. Scott Barlow eventually got the win before Emmanuel Clase earned his 28th save of the season.

Will Vest was the losing pitcher after allowing two runs (one earned) in the 10th.
Phillies 10, Dodgers 1
Zack Wheeler improved to 10-4 on the season after striking out seven over five innings. He allowed a run on three hits and two walks. He left the start with an injury.
Bobby Miller fell to 1-2 after surrendering nine runs on 10 hits and three walks over four innings. He struck out a pair.
Rays 5, Yankees 3
Ryan Pepiot earned the win for Tampa Bay after allowing a run on four hits and three walks. He struck out seven over 5 2/3 innings.
Kevin Kelly, Colin Poche and Jason Adam all earned holds before Pete Fairbanks claimed his 15th save of the season.
Carlos Rodon fell to 9-7 after allowing four runs on five hits and two walks over four frames. He struck out five.
Reds 12, Rockies 6
Nick Lodolo only made it 3 2/3 innings in his start for Cincinnati. He gave up four runs on five hits and a walk, while striking out four.
Nick Martinez pitched next and got the win. Lucas Sims, Justin Wilson and Fernando Cruz all earned holds before the Reds pulled away.
Cal Quantrill allowed five runs on four hits and a walk over two innings for Colorado. He struck out four batters.
Red Sox 12, Athletics 9
Brayan Bello improved to 9-5 after striking out 11 batters over 5 1/3 innings. He allowed five runs on nine hits and two walks.
Joey Estes was tagged with his fourth loss after giving up eight runs on seven hits and a walk over 1 2/3 innings. He struck out one batter.
Mets 7, Nationals 5
Jose Quintana improved to 4-5 after working seven scoreless innings for New York. He allowed one hit and one walk, while striking out five.
Edwin Diaz got the final out to pick up his ninth save.
Jake Irvin took the loss and fell to 7-7 on the season. He allowed six runs on nine hits and two walks over six innings. Irvin struck out two and still has a strong 3.13 ERA.
Astros 4, Marlins 3
Ronel Blanco improved to 9-3 after striking out seven batters in seven innings of work. He allowed two runs on four hits and a walk, while lowering his ERA to 2.53.
Bryan Abreu earned his 20th hold before Josh Hader got his 16th save.
Trevor Rogers started for Miami and allowed two runs on six hits and two walks over 5 1/3 innings. He struck out five along the way.
Huascar Brazoban pitched next and took the loss, despite both runs he allowed being unearned.
Pirates 12, Brewers 2
Quinn Priester was the bulk pitcher for Pittsburgh, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks over six innings. He earned his first win and struck out eight batters along the way.
Colin Rea fell to 8-3 after allowing seven runs on six hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out three.
Rangers 5, Angels 4
Max Scherzer allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits over 6 2/3 innings in his start for Texas. He struck out six and walked none.
Jose Leclerc got the next out and earned the win. David Robertson picked up a hold before Kirby Yates got his 14th save of the season.
Roansy Contreras allowed four runs on five hits and a walk over two innings for Los Angeles. He struck out one. Luis Garcia eventually took the loss.
Braves 6, Diamondbacks 2
Chris Sale improved to 12-3 and now has a 2.74 ERA for the season. He allowed two runs on five hits and three walks over 5 1/3 innings, while striking out nine batters along the way.
Zac Gallen took the loss and fell to 6-5 on the season. He gave up five runs (four earned) on seven hits and a walk, while striking out four. Gallen has a 3.33 ERA still.
Mariners 8, Padres 3
Logan Gilbert improved to 6-5 after allowing three runs on four hits and a walk over 7 2/3 innings for Seattle. He struck out seven along the way and now has a 2.94 ERA.
Adam Mazur started and took the loss for San Diego. He gave up five runs on seven hits and two walks over 4 2/3 innings, while striking out six.
Giants 4, Blue Jays 3
Blake Snell started and worked five scoreless innings for San Francisco. He allowed one hit and three walks, while striking out three.
Randy Rodriguez earned a hold before Ryan Walker was charged with a blown save after giving up three runs. Erik Miller got the win after firing a scoreless inning.
Yusei Kikuchi struck out 13 over 7 1/3 innings in his start for Toronto. He allowed two runs on six hits and no walks.
Nate Pearson earned a hold before Trevor Richards was charged with a blown save and loss.
