Huascar Brazoban | Fantasy Outlook

Huascar Brazoban shines in high-leverage role, but lack of saves caps his weekly value

Huascar Brazoban has been brilliant recently, posting a flawless 0.00 ERA and a tiny 0.31 WHIP with six strikeouts over his last 3.2 innings of work. He has stepped up as a crucial late-inning setup option for the fifth-place Mets (33-41), helping stabilize a bullpen currently missing injured key arms like Reed Garrett and Dedniel Nunez.

While Brazoban's current 2.35 season ERA is highly impressive, our models suggest some regression is coming. Our projections estimate a 4.11 ERA and 1.33 WHIP for the rest of the year, which aligns closer to his career 4.19 ERA. Because Devin Williams remains the primary closer, Brazoban's lack of saves limits his utility to holds-only leagues.

Looking at the remainder of the week, the Mets face a tough road matchup against the Phillies, where they are scheduled to go up against elite starters like Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola.
