Looking for pitching help? These starting pitchers and relievers are among the top waiver wire targets entering Monday's action.
Let's now turn our attention to some fantasy baseball waiver wire pitching options. We'll discuss some streaming starting pitching options, plus some relievers.
Check back in a bit for a waiver wire story on hitters. Be sure to check out the weekly projection article, where we looked at hitters and pitchers projected for big weeks.
Fantasy baseball waiver wire options can be found all season on FantasySP!
Andre Pallante - St. Louis Cardinals
Pallante is up 7.27% today, which brings his overall mark to 45.45%.
He will be facing the Diamondbacks on Monday evening. It's not the best matchup on paper, but with how he's pitched of late, Pallante is still a big-time pickup for the day.
Pallante has allowed two or less runs in three straight starts. He's worked at least 5 2/3 innings in each outing, while striking out at least five batters. He has a 3.76 earned run average over 14 starts, and has 62 strikeouts over 76 2/3 innings.
Pallante is a good deep-league streaming option for Monday, but I'd stop short of trying him in too many standard leagues. He could surprise, but I see his ceiling at average at best tonight.
Shane Bieber - Toronto Blue Jays
Bieber is owned in 63.14% of leagues, which is up 3.72% today.
Bieber will be making his season debut tonight against the Astros. That's a decent matchup on paper, but nothing too spectacular.
When healthy, Bieber can be a top-line fantasy pitcher. Injuries have derailed his career, and several seasons. When he's out there though, Bieber is usually worth rostering and utilizing in most leagues.
You can add him for free today in a handful of leagues. If you are able to scoop him up, do it, and hope Bieber stays healthy moving forward.
UPDATE: Bieber is now expected to start Tuesday against the Astros. Dylan Cease will start on Monday.
Tony Santillan - Cincinnati Reds
Santillan has been added in about 4% of leagues over the past couple days. He's at 15% rostered overall.
He blew a save on June 10, working in the eighth inning in that outing. Since then, Santillan has three saves over three appearances, and has allowed just one hit and no walks. He has three strikeouts in that span.
Santillan is the clear closer for Cincy right now. That could change when Emilio Pagan comes back off the injured list, but for the time being, Santillan is worth adding and utilizing in more leagues.
He's just a deep-league option in my eyes, but those desperate for saves could consider him in standard leagues. Look at him as a short-term option only though.
Eric Lauer - Los Angeles Dodgers
Lauer is sitting at 15% owned as he prepares to make a start on Monday.
Lauer gets a start against the Twins on Monday. That's a pretty solid matchup on paper, and now on the Dodgers, Lauer's fantasy outlook is already up.
In four starts with LA, he's allowed three or fewer runs in every outing. Lauer has at least four strikeouts in three of the four starts, and has worked at least 4 2/3 innings in each game.
Lauer is trending up on his new team, and the matchup makes him an even better fantasy asset today. I like him best in deeper leagues, but also think he could be considered in some standard leagues.
Anthony Kay - Chicago White Sox
Kay is up 3.21%, which brings his overall mark to 19.57%.
He will get the nod against the Guardians tonight. That's a pretty good matchup, and even better with Jose Ramirez out now for Cleveland.
Kay has a 4.61 ERA over 15 appearances (13 starts) this season. He's 6-2 with 55 strikeouts over 70 1/3 innings.
This will be Kay's first start against Cleveland. He hasn't pitched super well this season, but the matchup is good enough to try him in some deeper leagues today.
Pete Fairbanks - Miami Marlins
Fairbanks sits at 63% rostered. That's up over 3% from just a couple days ago, so he's trending up.
He has a save in four straight appearances, and those have come over the past 11 days. Fairbanks allowed just one run in that span, and has eight strikeouts over his past five appearances, which tacks a win onto the four saves he's gotten of late.
Over 24 appearances overall, Fairbanks is 3-3 with 11 saves, two blown saves and two holds. He has allowed 17 runs (15 earned) on 18 hits and 11 walks, while striking out 31 over 22 innings.
Miami isn't the best team, but they are winning enough close games of late to make Fairbanks a good fantasy asset. He's a good deep-league option, especially right now, and he's worth streaming in some standard leagues if you need fantasy relief help.
