Tony Santillan | Fantasy Outlook

Tony Santillan's severe ratio struggles make Cincinnati's primary closer difficult to trust in weekly formats.

With Cincinnati sitting fifth in the NL Central at 32-35, their bullpen is heavily depleted by injuries to Pierce Johnson and Emilio Pagan, leaving Santillan as the primary late-inning option on the depth chart. However, his recent form is highly volatile, evidenced by a painful 10.00 ERA and 2.78 WHIP over the last 14 days despite pitching 2.3 scoreless frames in his last four appearances.

Our models project a rest-of-season rebound to a 4.24 ERA and 1.33 WHIP, but his current 6.40 ERA and 1.72 WHIP are a far cry from his stellar 2.83 ERA in 2025. Given his ongoing command issues and career-worst walk rate, his current struggles are likely sustainable regression rather than a fluke.

The Reds finish the week with a three-game home series against the Diamondbacks at Great American Ball Park. Because Santillan's bloated ratios can single-handedly ruin a fantasy matchup in just one outing, he is far too risky to deploy for a rogue save. Verdict: Sit.
