Victor Caratini | Fantasy Outlook

Caratini is the hottest catcher in baseball right now, flourishing as the primary starter in Minnesota.

Caratini has been on fire lately, slashing .387 over the last 14 days with three home runs and nine runs scored. The third-place Twins are currently on a three-game losing streak, but Caratini remains a bright spot as he serves as the everyday starter behind the plate while Ryan Jeffers recovers from a hamate bone fracture. His increased volume and 1.192 OPS over the last week make him an essential asset in any format.

While the recent .365 average over the last month is a significant outlier compared to his career .244 mark, his increased power profile is supported by our projection of nearly double-digit homers this summer. He has already matched his expected season output for long balls in just 59 games, suggesting he has adjusted his approach for more fly-ball impact. Expect his batting average to regress toward .250 eventually, but his current run-producing environment remains stable.

The week concludes with a three-game home set against the Rockies, featuring some of the most favorable matchups a hitter could ask for. Caratini will face Michael Lorenzen and his 7.33 ERA on Saturday, followed by two other starters with ERAs north of 4.60. Given the weak Colorado rotation and Caratini's scorching form, he is an easy lineup lock through the weekend. Verdict: Start.
