Fantasy Baseball Closer Report: Breaking Down NL Bullpens
We examine every National League bullpen to identify locked-in closers, emerging options and unsettled save situations.
It's Friday, which means it's time to go over the closer situations for all 30 MLB teams.
We will look over National Leagues teams in this first story - check back for the American League article. Here is the last NL closer update we did.
We are ordering the teams by record. Let's get to it!

Dodgers
Edwin Diaz is the go-to closer in Los Angeles. He had a pair of saves over the past week, with nobody else earning a save.
Tanner Scott and Alex Vesia are likely next in line for saves if Diaz is ever unavailable or injured.
Brewers
Trevor Megill is the Brewers' closer, and earned two saves over the past week.
Abner Uribe is likely next in line for saves, but it was Angel Zerpa who earned the team's other save in the past week.
Braves
Raisel Iglesias is the Braves' closer. He earned just one save over the past week.
Robert Suarez is the top setup man, and there if Iglesias ever needs a day off, or is injured.
Marlins
Pete Fairbanks is the team's closer, but he didn't earn a save over the past week. He spent time on the paternity leave list, so that didn't help his cause.
Anthony Bender, Michael Petersen and Tyler Phillips earned a save over the past several days, so it's anyone's guess as to who would get the save chances if Fairbanks were ever unavailable again.
Reds
Emilio Pagan is the go-to guy in Cincinnati. He earned two saves and a win over the past week, showing how valuable a fantasy asset he can be.
Tony Santillan is the top setup man, and is earning some fantasy adds for how well he's pitched early on.
Cardinals
Riley O'Brien has emerged as the closer for the Cardinals. He's pitched in all the team's wins and picked up two saves over the past week. He's on the rise as a fantasy asset.
JoJo Romero is likely next in line for saves, but Ryne Stanek could also close games if O'Brien were ever unavailable.
Pirates
Dennis Santana came into the year as the closer, but Gregory Soto might be sharing that honor with him now. Neither guy earned a save over the past week, with Santana earning a win and Soto a hold.
This is a situation to keep close tabs on, as we don't have a great handle on things at the moment.
Diamondbacks
Paul Sewald is the team's go-to closer. He earned a save over the past week, but also was tagged with a loss.
Juan Morillo is likely next in line for saves if needed, especially after Jonathan Loaisiga was charged with two blown saves in the past week.
Mets
Devin Williams is the go-to closer in New York. He had one save over two appearances in the past week.
Luke Weaver is likely next in line for saves. He had a win and a hold this week, but also was charged with a blown save.
Padres
Mason Miller is the closer for San Diego. He earned two saves over four appearances in the past week.
Adrian Morejon or Jeremiah Estrada could earn saves if Miller was ever unavailable.
Cubs
Daniel Palencia is clearly the Cubs' closer, but his value is slipping as the team has struggled a bit out of the gates. He earned one save over the past week.
Caleb Thielbar is maybe next in line for saves, and Hunter Harvey is another option.
Phillies
Jhoan Duran is the clear No. 1 guy in Philadelphia. He had a pair of saves over the past week.
Jose Alvarado or Brad Keller are the setup men, and would be the next in line for saves if Duran was ever unavailable.
Rockies
Victor Vodnik is said to be the Colorado closer, but he was one of four guys to earn a save over the past week.
Juan Mejia, Antonio Senzatela and Zach Agnos also earned a save each for Colorado. That doesn't even mention Jimmy Herget, who might be the preferred No. 2 guy after Vodnik.
Colorado has won enough of late, but with no clear closer, it doesn't help anyone out. This is a situation to monitor, but the relievers are all better fantasy assets in deeper leagues if they are going to split the closer role.
Giants
Ryan Walker is the closer for the Giants. He only pitched once over the past week, and he only got a hold in that game.
Caleb Kilian and Erik Miller are the setup men by the looks of it, but the job clearly belongs to Walker for now.
Nationals
Clayton Beeter and Cole Henry are projected co-closers right now. Nobody in Washington earned a save over the past week, so we don't have a clear idea on who is the top option for saves.
Beeter blew a save across two appearances, and Henry took a loss over three outings.
This is another situation to monitor, but the Washington fantasy relievers are all better deep-league assets for the time being. We'll see if that changes, and if the team can win enough to support even one closer.
