Jorge Polanco is out for the season following ankle surgery

Polanco has not logged an appearance over the past two weeks after officially undergoing season-ending left ankle surgery in late August. His placement on the 60-day injured list removes him entirely from the lineup mix, leaving the designated hitter duties to teammates as the fourth-place Mets (68-78), currently riding a four-game winning streak, wrap up their schedule.

The surgery caps a miserable campaign in which Polanco slashed just .148 with two home runs across 37 games before being shut down. That dismal output fell drastically short of our projections and his 29-homer resurgence in 2025, confirming that persistent ankle bursitis severely compromised his power and timing at the plate all year.

Looking ahead to the remainder of the week, the Mets travel to the Bronx for a difficult three-game set against the crosstown Yankees, matching up with tough opposing starters in Carlos Rodon (3.09 ERA), Gerrit Cole (3.41 ERA), and Cam Schlittler (2.04 ERA). Because Polanco is officially sidelined for the year, fantasy managers can safely cut bait in all redraft formats. Drop.
