National League Closer Report: Who’s Locking Down Saves?
Breaking down every National League bullpen situation and identifying who to trust for saves right now.
After going over closer situations in the American League, let's go over things in the National League.
Here is the last NL closer update we did.

Braves
Raisel Iglesias is still on the 15-day injured list, so Robert Suarez is still the closer. Despite all the winning Atlanta has been doing, Suarez didn't earn a save over the past six days.
Suarez is still the guy to roster while Iglesias is out, but when he returns, I think Iglesias will regain that closer role, so this is something to keep tabs on.
Dodgers
Tanner Scott, Alex Vesia and Blake Treinen are closer options in LA while Edwin Diaz is out. No LA relievers earned a save over the past six days though.
So this remains a situation to watch, as things could change daily. I like Scott the most right now, but whoever is actually earning saves is the fantasy asset to roster and utilize.
Reds
Emilio Pagan is the closer in Cincy, but he didn't earn a save over the past week - no Cincy reliever earned a save.
Tony Santillan is the top setup man, but the closer role appears locked in with Pagan for now. It's a situation to watch, but Pagan appears pretty locked in.
Padres
Mason Miller is still excelling as the team's closer. He earned a save on Saturday over three appearances since Saturday.
Adrian Morejon and Jason Adam are some setup men if Miller is even unavailable, but there's no chance anyone takes Miller's job unless he's injured.
Cubs
Things are a mess in Chicago as Daniel Palencia, and other relievers, are on the injured list.
Hoby Milner got a save on Wednesday. Ben Brown, Phil Maton and Jacob Webb are some other relievers who could earn saves until Palencia is back.
That makes this situation one to watch for the time being.
Cardinals
Riley O'Brien is the closer for the Cardinals, but George Soriano earned just as many saves this week. Soriano got his save after O'Brien blew a save and took a loss on Saturday.
O'Brien is still the guy I like for now, but it's a situation to monitor.
Brewers
Only one Milwaukee reliever earned a save over the past week, and it was Jake Woodford, who earned a three-inning save on Tuesday.
Abner Uribe appears to be the closer for now, but Trevor Megill is an option too after pitching better of late.
Things are still worth watching in Milwaukee until a closer is locked into place.
Diamondbacks
Paul Sewald is the team's closer, but he didn't get a save over the past six days, and appeared just once in a game. The D-Backs need to win more to support him as a fantasy asset.
Juan Morillo and Jonathan Loaisiga are others to watch in case Sewald is ever out, but I believe the role belongs to Sewald.
Pirates
Dennis Santana and Gregory Soto are closer options in Pittsburgh.
Soto earned a win and a hold over his two appearances this week. Santana pitched three times in that span, and he had no decisions in two outings and a blown save and loss in his other.
Santana is the guy I like right now, but this situation is one to monitor until it's clear that someone is locked in as the closer.
Marlins
Tyler Phillips has emerged as the closer with Pete Fairbanks now on the injured list. He blew a save on Monday, then earned a save on Tuesday.
Calvin Faucher got a save on Wednesday, when Phillips was presumably unavailable.
For as long as Fairbanks is out, this is a situation to watch. I think Phillips is the guy to utilize in fantasy leagues for now.
Nationals
Gus Varland earned a save on Thursday, which made up for his blown save on Saturday. Paxton Schultz got a save on Sunday, after Varland had already pitched.
Nothing is set in stone in Washington, so keep tabs on things. I like Varland for the time being.
Rockies
Two Colorado relievers earned a save over the past six days, and they came on the same day (a doubleheader). Victor Vodnik earned one save, and Zach Agnos earned the other.
Vodnik is who I like, but Colorado likely isn't going to win enough to support him outside deeper fantasy leagues. Keep tabs on things in case Vodnik isn't the everyday closer.
Giants
Ryan Walker is the team's closer, but it was Erik Miller who got a save over the past six days.
Walker blew a save and took a loss on Thursday, so this is now a situation to monitor. Miller could be next in line for saves if the Giants look elsewhere for saves.
Keep tabs on things, as things could be changing soon in San Fran.
Phillies
Jhoan Duran is still out, and no Philly reliever earned a win over the past week.
Brad Keller has been the fill-in closer, and still earned a win over his two relief appearances in the past week, so he's still the guy to utilize while Duran is on the shelf.
Mets
Devin Williams is the team's closer, but didn't earn a save over the past week. He appeared twice, and didn't earn a decision in either appearance.
Until the Mets start winning more, Williams is a better deep-league fantasy asset. He's droppable in standard leagues, but keep tabs on him in case New York starts winning more.
Luke Weaver and Brooks Raley would likely be next in line for saves if Williams is ever injured, or traded away, so keep tabs on them.
