Quarterbacks

Justin Fields is the new quarterback for the Jets.

Fields isn't a top-10 dynasty QB to me, and he's very unlikely to get there. He's 26 years old yet and simply hasn't put it all together, and I don't think he ever will.

He was replaced by Russell Wilson in Pittsburgh last season, and fizzled out in Chicago before that. His dual-threat ability usually masks what is a below-average quarterback in a lot of ways.

I'd only want to roster Fields with a contending dynasty team, because I don't see a bright future ahead for him. However, if I had him on a rebuilding team, maybe waiting until he turns in a couple good fantasy showings this season could lead to his value being higher, and then the return for him would be a touch better.

Decide when the best time to move Fields is. Right now, I see him as a possible starting QB in deeper setups or two-QB leagues, but think he's a better third option, and someone you don't have to trust weekly.

Tyrod Taylor is the top backup. His dynasty value is low as a 36-year-old, but he's still worth stashing in deeper setups in case Fields gets hurt or is benched after struggling.

Adrian Martinez was with the Jets last season, but didn't play any games. The 25-year-old has limited dynasty value, especially because he wasn't drafted.

Running Backs

Breece Hall appears to still be the team's No. 1 back. Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis are two young, capable backup options worth mentioning. Donovan Edwards and Kene Nwangwu are also on the roster.

Hall hasn't turned into the big-time fantasy asset most people expected, but I still have him as my No. 9 dynasty RB. He's more likely to fall off my list than move up it though.

Hall is 24 years old, so he's got several years in him still most likely. He regressed a bit last season, finishing with 1,359 yards and eight total scores.

Hall is getting closer to being a dynasty asset only worth rostering by contending dynasty squads. If I was looking to move him, I'd maybe wait until he delivers a big fantasy showing, so that his value is as high as it can be.

Hall might not be in New York for long, so his franchise is going to also have a lot to say about where he ranks going forward.

Allen was a fourth-round pick last season and had 482 total yards and three scores over 17 games. He's just 21 years old, so he's got some good dynasty value, and could become a top-10 dynasty asset if Hall leaves and Allen grabs the lead role.

Davis was a fifth-round pick last offseason, but is 23 years old, so he's a notch or two lower than Allen in dynasty formats. Davis had 249 yards and two scores over 17 games last season. He too could grab the lead role moving forward, but I like Allen's chances at that more, and think Davis will be more of a complimentary back over his career.

Nwangwu is a veteran option at 27 years old. He has 118 yards and no scores over his first four years and 39 games in the league. Nwangwu has very little dynasty value, and is a cut candidate in real life.

Usually I avoid talking about undrafted guys, but Edwards was a bigger name in college, so I'm going to at least mention him. He's 22 years old and could carve out a role with some team at some point, so he could be worth stashing in really deep leagues, and is at least worth monitoring as his career gets rolling.

Wide Receivers

Garrett Wilson is the team's No. 1 wideout. He's expected to start alongside Josh Reynolds and Tyler Johnson. Rookie Arian Smith and Malachi Moore, Allen Lazard and Xavier Gipson are also worth mentioning.

Wilson isn't on my top-10 list, but he's not far off it either. He's 25 years old, so while he could sneak back on the list, it's more likely that he stays off it.

Wilson posted 1,109 yards and seven scores last season over 17 games. He has at least 1,000 yards and three touchdowns in his first three seasons.

Quarterback play has held Wilson back the past couple years, and Fields isn't going to elevate him too much I don't think. He's young enough to still roster on any dynasty team, but if your rebuild is a ways off yet, trading Wilson away might make some sense - just make sure you're getting a solid return, because he's an above-average dynasty asset.

Reynolds is 30 years old, and only posted 194 yards and a score over nine games with two teams last year. He's likely to be replaced by younger talent as time passes, so while he's got some fantasy value this year as a possible No. 2 target in the wideout room, Reynolds isn't a good long-term asset - sell him high if he excels early in the season.

Johnson is 26 years old and is already on his fourth NFL team while going into just his sixth season. He hasn't gone for more than 360 yards in a single season. Johnson could get pretty involved on this Jets' team, but he's just a secondary fantasy option most likely. He's worth rostering in some dynasty leagues in case he takes off with his new team, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that happening.

Lazard is 29 years old and seems like a cut/trade candidate - he'll probably land with Aaron Rodgers on the Steelers before the season is up. He has at least 500 yards in three of his past four years, and has scored 21 touchdowns in that span, but he looks to be a backup in New York now.

He's got a little dynasty value remaining, but should only be rostered by contending teams. You could try selling Lazard high at some point this season, but maybe a change of scenery is what he needs, again.

Corley was a third-round pick last offseason and went for just 42 yards as a rookie over nine games played. He's 23 years old and probably needs to show something this season to hang on to his dynasty value. Having the team add Johnson and Reynolds is not a good sign for Corley, but maybe he'll step up and play the vets out of the starting lineup.

Gipson didn't do as much in his second NFL season. He's more of a gadget player, but I'm not sure the Jets will utilize him enough to ever be a reliable fantasy asset. He's buried on the depth chart, so those gadget plays will need to be home runs to make him fantasy relevant. His dynasty value is pretty low, despite only being 24 years old.

Smith was a fourth-round pick, and the Jets are hoping they finally hit on another receiver with him. He's 23 years old already, which is a knock against his dynasty value, but he's worth stashing on any dynasty team. He could work into a starting role this season and be a good secondary option to Wilson in time.

Tight Ends

Mason Taylor is a rookie who is already projected to start for the Jets. He's joined in the TE room by Jeremy Ruckert, Stone Smartt and more.

Taylor has a chance to get on my dynasty top-10 list in time, but he's not on it yet. The 21-year-old has a good fantasy outlook going into his rookie season, and could become the No. 2 option in the passing game in time, or right away.

Taylor is worth rostering in every dynasty league and could help contending teams all season. He's one to buy into now, as a good rookie season will only make his dynasty value skyrocket, making it much harder to acquire him.

Ruckert is 23 years old, but has just 264 yards and no scores over his first three years in the NFL. He'd need a Taylor injury to be really involved, and I doubt that would lead to much fantasy relevance. His dynasty value is already pretty low, and I don't see it growing, especially with the arrival of Taylor.

Smartt is 26 years old and has posted 308 yards and a score over three years and 38 games. He's another depth option, but has very little redraft or dynasty value.
