Let's continue our dynasty football overview of NFL teams by looking at the Detroit Lions.

We already went over the Eagles and Chiefs and plan to cover every NFL team over the next couple weeks, so keep checking back!

Quarterbacks

Jared Goff is the team's quarterback, and that is likely to be the case for at least a couple more seasons.

I still do not have Goff listed as a top-10 dynasty quarterback. Goff has some dynasty value yet as a 30-year-old.

Everyone is interested to see how Goff and the Lions' offense performs without offensive coordinator Ben Johnson. They might take a step back, but I don't think it will be anything drastic.

I think Goff has the potential to be a top-10 fantasy quarterback for the next few years yet, then maybe start to fade a bit as he gets closer to age 35.

There's plenty of playmakers in Detroit, so don't overlook Goff when it comes to a dynasty league. I would prefer to only roster him on a contending dynasty team, otherwise I'd sell him for younger assets.

Hendon Hooker and Kyle Allen are the team's backup quarterbacks right now. Allen is a veteran QB, while Hooker has a bit more upside.

Hooker was drafted in 2023, but is already 27 years old. He'd only get a real chance at the starting job if Goff was injured or dealt away. That just makes Hooker a stash option in the deepest of leagues to protect Goff.

Running Backs

Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery are the Lions' top two running backs. Craig Reynolds and Sione Vaki are some options further down the depth chart.

Gibbs is one of the top dynasty players in the league right now. The 23-year-old has 3,190 total yards and 31 touchdowns over his first two NFL seasons. Him splitting the workload with Montgomery right now is likely to extend Gibbs' playing career a bit.

Gibbs is my No. 2 dynasty back, trailing only Bijan Robinson - but that's really a toss up. I see Gibbs as an elite fantasy running back for several more seasons, and maybe lasting a bit longer than most because he's not a workhorse right now.

He's especially good in PPR leagues, and should remain an elite fantasy option even with a new offensive coordinator in place. Gibbs is a dynasty back to build around, and is great to roster on a contending or rebuilding team.

Montgomery still has some dynasty value left even though he's 28 years old and coming off an injury.

He still played in 14 games last season - he also played 14 games in 2023. Montgomery being the second guy in Detroit helps him get in that many games.

Montgomery is a better dynasty asset to contending teams, and I'd try to trade him off a rebuilding dynasty team. I'd wait until he turns in a big game or two before moving him, because I think his value is probably a bit down at this point.

Montgomery can still be a positive fantasy force for teams, but his run in the NFL is likely on the back nine. Capitalize on his value and move him before it's too late and his value has fizzled up.

Reynolds would only be a fantasy asset if Gibbs or Montgomery were out, and Reynolds still likely wouldn't hold a big enough role to be an asset outside the deepest of fantasy leagues.

He's also 29 years old, so Reynolds really doesn't have much dynasty value at all.

Vaki was a fourth-round pick of the Lions in 2024, but he only got nine touches over 16 games last season. He played just 2.4% of the team's offensive snaps. Vaki was on the field for 70.6% of the team's special team's snaps.

Vaki won't be involved offensively unless there's a couple injuries before him. As a 23-year-old (nearly 24), he has a bit of dynasty value. Vaki could maybe be the No. 2 back in a couple years, but he'd probably have to flash some potential for that to happen.

Wide Receivers

Amon-Ra St. Brown is the team's clear No. 1 wideout. Jameson Williams is the next in line for targets, while Tim Patrick is expected to serve as the team's No. 3 wideout.

Rookies Isaac TeSlaa and Dominic Lovett are some dynasty assets to monitor, while Kalif Raymond, Malik Taylor and Ronnie Bell are other veteran depth options.

St. Brown is my No. 7 dynasty wideout. He has 5,037 total yards and 34 scores over his first four NFL seasons.

ARSB took a step back last season, but is still clearly the team's No. 1 wideout. Going for 1,200+ yards and scoring double-digit touchdowns should be a regular occurrence for St. Brown.

He's just 25 years old still, so he's got plenty of dynasty value left. St. Brown can be rostered on contending or rebuilding dynasty teams, and is a receiver to build around.

Williams is an intriguing dynasty asset. He's 24 years old and is coming off his best season in three tries. Williams had 1,062 yards and eight scores over 15 games last season.

Williams still has the chance to shine as the team's No. 2 wideout for a long time. He might be third on the pass catcher list on the team, but this offense is good enough to support all three guys.

Williams can be rostered on contending or rebuilding dynasty teams. He's on the rise and could really see his dynasty value rise with another big season in 2025.

Patrick is 31 years old, so he's more of a depth option in dynasty leagues. He had 394 yards and three scores last season.

Patrick is worth a roster spot in some deeper dynasty leagues. He'd take on a much bigger offensive role if St. Brown or Williams ever missed extended time, so he's a name to keep in mind.

TeSlaa was a third-round pick in the most recent draft. He might be behind Patrick on the depth chart for now, but that third starting spot could be his in the long run.

TeSlaa is worth stashing in some dynasty leagues, and he's the third-best dynasty receiver on the team after St. Brown and Williams.

Lovett was a seventh-round pick, so his chance to excel isn't as high. He looks like more of a slot guy, which is where St. Brown mostly works, but if Lovett can play outside, then he maybe could become a bigger part of the offense going forward.

Lovett is a sleeper to keep tabs on. He's worth stashing in deep, deep dynasty leagues.

Raymond is 30 years old, Taylor is 29 and Bell is 25 (but on his second team already). None of them are likely to contribute, this season or in the future. A change of scenery could change their fortunes, but they are more depth options than reliable pass-catching options already.

Tight Ends

Sam LaPorta is the guy I was talking about maybe being the No. 2 pass-catching option before. He's my No. 3 dynasty tight end, even after regressing in his second NFL season.

LaPorta still had 726 yards and seven touchdowns last season, which is a good fantasy season for most tight ends. He had 889 yards and 10 scores as a rookie, so the ceiling is really high for him.

I think LaPorta is going to bounce back this season, and he's just 24 years old, so he's still got several big years in him. He's definitely a dynasty tight end you can build around.

Now would be a time to buy low on LaPorta, but everyone knows that, so don't expect to get him for dirt cheap. I think he's worth investing in though.

Brock Wright, Shane Zylstra and Kenny Yeboah are among the backup tight ends Detroit has on its roster.

Wright is the most notable name of that group, but he's likely to only contribute a lot if LaPorta was out for an extended period. Wright is 26 years old, but still has dynasty value in the deepest of leagues out there.

LaPorta is the Detroit tight end you want, and everyone else is pretty much depth.
