We started a dynasty football series on Wednesday where we go over individual team's offensive players.

We began with the Eagles and are moving on to the Kansas City Chiefs now.

Quarterbacks

Patrick Mahomes is going to be the Chiefs' quarterback for a long time still, as long as there's no major injuries. He's 29 years old.

He's taken a step back as a fantasy asset over the past couple seasons, but he's on the field nearly every week and doesn't make a ton of mistakes. Mahomes should remain close to a top-10 fantasy quarterback for several more seasons yet.

Mahomes is my No. 6 dynasty QB. He mostly falls behind the dual-threat quarterbacks, and while Mahomes is an older QB compared to the others on that list of mine, he's still likely to outlast some of those guys.

Mahomes' trade value has waned, but I'd still move him if my dynasty team wasn't competing for a title. Go after a younger QB and hope you strike gold.

Gardner Minshew and Bailey Zappe are the team's backup quarterbacks going into the season. Neither will play in KC unless Mahomes gets injured. In really, really deep dynasty leagues, protecting Mahomes with Minshew might make sense for some.

Running Backs

Isiah Pacheco is the team's No. 1 back heading into the season. Kareem Hunt and Elijah Mitchell are some veteran backup options, while Brashard Smith was the team's seventh-round pick in the most recent draft.

Pacheco is 26 years old, so he's got at least a couple more seasons before he hits that age when backs start to fade a bit. I don't have Pacheco as a top-10 fantasy back right now.

He played in 17 games as a rookie in 2023, then played 14 games in 2024. Pacheco was limited to seven games last season, which is part of the reason why I don't have him as a top-10 dynasty back.

Pacheco is still a really good fantasy asset as the lead back on a good Chiefs' offense. If he stays healthy, he has a chance to be a top-end fantasy back.

His value is down now, so if you are rebuilding and want to move on from Pacheco, I'd try to wait until he plays a couple games this season. You risk him getting injured, or underperforming, but with a player who won't have a ton of trade value anyways, it's worth gambling on him and hoping he starts the year strong, then trading him for a better return.

Hunt did some nice things in the absence of Pacheco last season, and should have a decent role going into this season. Hunt will only be a big fantasy asset if Pacheco goes down again though.

Mitchell will need Pacheco or Hunt to go down with an injury to be more involved offensively. Him and Hunt are more handcuffs in deeper setups than anything else.

Smith could eventually become a notable offensive piece for the Chiefs, but in the early going of his career, he'll be buried on the depth chart. He's a name to keep in mind, but is unlikely to ever be a huge dynasty asset.

Wide Receivers

Receiver is where the intriguing dynasty assets are in KC.

Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy are two young-and-upcoming wideouts. The veteran Marquise Brown is likely the third starter this season. Rookie Jalen Royals could eventually replace Brown. JuJu Smith-Schuster and Skyy Moore are a couple other notable wide receivers on the roster.

None of those guys appear in my top-10 dynasty wide receivers.

Rice showed big promise in his rookie season, but was limited to four games in 2024. In time, he should get back to being the team's No. 1 wideout, and at just 25 years old, he's got several big seasons ahead of him.

Rice's fantasy value is down after his injury last season, but I still have really high hopes for him this season and going forward. It's a good time to buy a bit lower on him. There's a little risk involved, but the potential upside is more what you should be focused on.

Worthy did some nice things in his rookie season last year, even if he was a bit inconsistent and disappointing at times. He didn't have to deal with Rice for most of the season after all.

Sometimes, people think that more offensive weapons can hurt a fantasy player. It happens sometimes, but other times, more offensive talent can really unlock other player's fantasy outlooks.

I think the latter is going to be the case for Worthy. The Chiefs are going to be a good offense for as long as Mahomes is there, and with Rice leading the wideout room, I see Worthy thriving in a secondary role.

He might not get the targets or production in the passing game that Rice will, but with some added value as a ball carrier, Worthy can be a fantasy asset for a long, long time. He's just 22 years old.

Rice is the better fantasy asset now, but Worthy isn't far behind him as a dynasty asset. All it might take for Worthy to pass Rice in dynasty rankings is a good 2025 season. For that reason, now is a time to buy into Worthy, before his dynasty value possibly skyrockets.

Brown is still just 28 years old, but it appears his best years have already passed him by. He was limited to just two games last season after an early-season injury.

He'll likely be the third option amongst receivers, but be a decent fantasy asset at times. I don't see him being a consistent fantasy asset, which takes away a lot of his value.

Brown is another deep-league dynasty asset, but shouldn't be counted on for a lot this season. He's likely going to be just a complementary receiver the rest of his career, so while there's some dynasty value in him still, it's not that high either.

I like Royals in the long run after the team spent a fourth-round pick on him. I see him replacing Brown in the seasons to come, and maybe becoming a big offensive piece for the Chiefs.

Any receiver that gets to play with Mahomes could become a good fantasy asset, and him being 22 years old makes him a dynasty piece to invest in, especially in deeper setups.

Moore and Smith-Schuster are just depth fantasy pieces in the deepest of leagues. It would take a couple injuries for them to get heavily involved, and they have a greater chance of being off the roster next year than on it.

Tight Ends

Travis Kelce is the team's clear No. 1 tight end, but there's also another dynasty option in Jared Wiley on the roster. Wiley might be the third tight end behind Noah Gray and Kelce this season though.

Kelce doesn't appear on my top-10 dynasty tight end list, and that's because of his age and how close he is to retirement.

He's failed to reach 1,000 receiving yards in back-to-back seasons, and he's only scored eight times over that stretch. Kelce's best days are behind him, but for the next year at least, he's a solid fantasy asset.

That makes Kelce a tight end to roster for contending dynasty teams. Otherwise, I'd ship him off for some younger players or draft picks in a dynasty league.

Gray has improved his numbers in each of the four seasons he's been in the NFL. He topped out at 437 yards and five touchdowns last year.

Gray should remain involved this season, but I could also see his numbers dropping if the top-four wideouts remain healthy. He doesn't have much dynasty value outside the deepest of setups.

Wiley appeared in seven games last season after being drafted in the fourth round of the 2024 draft. He's 24 years old.

Getting to learn from Kelce is massive for Wiley's development, but he'll need to show a little something this season for dynasty owners to truly buy into him. Everyone is just speculating that he'll take over for Kelce when he retires and immediately star for the Chiefs. He hasn't shown that in NFL games yet.

Now could be a good time to buy low on Wiley, because while he has some dynasty value already, it's still not that high, and it's likely to only rise from here.
