Let's continue re-ranking dynasty baseball players by looking at the shortstop position.

We've looked at catchers, first basemen and second basemen so far.

1. Bobby Witt Jr. (Preseason Ranking: 1)

Witt is still my No. 1 dynasty shortstop, just like he was before the season.

He is having a “down season” by his lofty standards and is still a top-five fantasy SS right now. Witt has a great chance to lead the position in fantasy points this season, and repeat that honor for the next several years.

2. Elly De La Cruz (Preseason Ranking: 3)

De La Cruz moves up to No. 2 in the latest dynasty rankings for me.

He's leading the position in fantasy points so far and is just 23 years old. De La Cruz continues to improve, and he's looking like one of the top dynasty assets out there now.

3. Gunnar Henderson (Preseason Ranking: 2)

Henderson falls a spot in the re-rank after a slow start to his 2025 season.

He's back on pace with his average from last season, and could pass De La Cruz for the No. 2 spot with a strong finish to the season. Henderson is still just 23 years old and remains one of the better dynasty assets out there.

4. Mookie Betts (Preseason Ranking: 4)

Betts sticks at No. 4 for me in my re-rank.

He's enjoying another big season for the Dodgers, and should have several big fantasy seasons left in him. I still think Betts should only be rostered by competitive dynasty teams - if you're rebuilding, then I'd sell Betts high.

5. Francisco Lindor (Preseason Ranking: 5)

Lindor remains at No. 5 for me today.

He's among the fantasy leaders at shortstop again and has more in the tank yet. The 31-year-old should be able to produce a couple more big seasons at least. I'd treat him like Betts, only rostering him on contending dynasty teams.

6. Jacob Wilson (Preseason Ranking: NM)

If you are wondering what “NM” stands for, it's “Not Mentioned.” Wilson has come out of nowhere and looks like a dynasty star for years to come.

He's not a big power guy, but his high average and OBP could put him among the fantasy leaders at shortstop for years to come. The 23-year-old should only get better with more MLB seasoning too.

7. CJ Abrams (Preseason Ranking: 6)

Abrams drops a spot to No. 7 in my re-rank.

The 24-year-old is just outside the top 10 at the position this season, but he's improved from past seasons in several areas. I wanted to bump him up the list, but the names before him are more deserving of those spots.

8. Zach Neto (Preseason Ranking: 10)

Neto gets bumped up a couple spots for my re-rank list.

He began the season on the injured list, but has mashed in his 55 games since returning to the field. Neto has improved his numbers from last season and is just 24 years old. He really deserves a spot higher than this, but shortstop is such a loaded position.

9. Oneil Cruz (Preseason Ranking: 7)

Cruz falls a couple spots in my book, but at least retained his top-10 ranking.

He's taken a step back with his average, but has improved in several other areas. We still probably haven't seen the 26-year-old Cruz near his peak, but I don't think he's a better long-term asset than the guys ranked ahead of him.

10. Trea Turner (Preseason Ranking: 9)

Turner drops a spot in my re-rank, which probably isn't fair after looking at his current .304 average and .363 OBP.

He sits third at the position right now, but also is 31 years old and isn't the big name that Betts and Lindor are. Don't think Turner isn't a great dynasty asset still, but he's another one to only roster on contending teams.

Honorable Mentions

Corey Seager was the only member of my preseason top 10 who fell off the list - he was ranked eighth before the season.

The 31-year-old has dealt with multiple injuries this season and has struggled at the plate when on the field. Seager still has some fantasy value, but injuries and his age have taken him off my top-10 list for now.

Some other top-end options this season who didn't make the cut are: Geraldo Perdomo, Jeremy Pena, Bo Bichette and J.P. Crawford. Willy Adames, Anthony Volpe, Masyn Winn and Ezequiel Tovar are guys I mentioned before the season, but have underwhelmed to varying degrees so far.

Leodalis De Vries, Marcelo Mayer, Sebastian Walcott, Colt Emerson, J.J. Wetherholt, Jesus Made, Carson Williams, Aidan Miller, Kevin McGonigle and Konnor Griffin are now the top-10 ranked shortstops in the game.

George Lombard Jr., Bryce Rainer, Alex Freeland, Cooper Pratt, Jett Williams, Franklin Arias, Arjun Nimmala, Felnin Celesten, Starlyn Caba, Edwin Arroyo, Jefferson Rojas and Luis Pena are more top-100 ranked shortstop-first prospects who could eventually factor into things.
