Top-10 Dynasty Baseball Catchers Update: How Far has Cal Raleigh Risen?
Morgan re-ranks his top-10 dynasty catchers in early June.
Before this fantasy baseball season kicked off, I provided rankings for redraft and dynasty leagues. You can find all those under the 2025 draft kit page.
Anyways, I wanted to revisit the lists and offer some updated rankings. We'll look at dynasty leagues first, and begin with the catcher position. Here's my preseason dynasty catcher rankings.

1. William Contreras (Preseason Ranking: 1)
My top dynasty catcher is still Contreras.
Contreras isn't even having that good of a season at the plate, but he's still the No. 4 fantasy catcher in points leagues so far. The 27-year-old should be around for several more seasons yet, and I don't think we've seen him at his peak yet.
2. Adley Rutschman (Preseason Ranking: 2)
I'm sticking with Rutschman in the No. 2 spot for now.
He's also 27 years old and isn't off to a very good start this season. I expect the Orioles to eventually move him in order to make room for a catching prospect on the rise (we'll cover him soon) - maybe Rutschman will take off as a hitter when he's not also tasked with catching.
3. Cal Raleigh (Preseason Ranking: 8)
Raleigh gets a big boost up the dynasty rankings after his extremely hot start to the 2025 season.
The 28-year-old has taken his game to a new level this season, and all of a sudden is right there with the top dynasty catchers in the game. His age is the only thing holding him back from ranking higher.
Raleigh is someone to add for contending dynasty teams, while being a sell-high option for rebuilding/retooling dynasty squads.
4. Samuel Basallo (Preseason Ranking: 5)
Speaking of the Orioles' future catcher, here he is. Basallo moves up a spot for me after seeing Rutschman's stats so far.
I think it's only a matter of time before we see Basallo in the big leagues. He's just 20 years old and already is playing in Triple-A. Basallo is performing pretty well there, and should be called up before the end of this season, then serving as the team's catcher most days moving forward.
5. Yainer Diaz (Preseason Ranking: 3)
Diaz drops a couple spots after his slower start to the season. He's been better of late and is nearing a top-10 fantasy spot at the position again.
Diaz being 26 years old helps him from not falling further down my list. Hopefully the start to this season was just a blip.
6. Will Smith (Preseason Ranking: 6)
Smith sticks at No. 6 after his strong start to the 2025 season. He's the No. 2 fantasy catcher so far.
Smith would have normally moved up for that kind of production, but him being 30 years old prevents me from doing that. He's another dynasty catcher to roster on contending teams, but sell if you are rebuilding/retooling.
7. Logan O'Hoppe (Preseason Ranking: 7)
O'Hoppe remains the No. 7 dynasty catcher in my book.
He's got a similar average to past seasons, but has added some extra power so far. If O'Hoppe can ever up his average, he could climb several more spots on my rankings. He's just 25 years old, so there's time for that too.
8. Shea Langeliers (Preseason Ranking: 9)
Langeliers moves up a spot from my preseason rankings.
He's a top-5 fantasy catcher so far (if you exclude Willson Contreras) and he's 27 years old, so he should have a few more seasons of production in him yet. His fantasy value really comes from hitting in the heart of the Athletics' lineup when he's playing.
9. Dalton Rushing (Preseason Ranking: 10)
I'm moving Rushing up a spot as well.
He's already made his MLB debut, despite Smith being there. Rushing hasn't delivered much at the plate yet, but learning from Smith, I think Rushing could be a good fantasy asset in time, maybe even by the end of this season. Him being able to play the outfield also moves him up my list, even though it could eventually mean he's removed from the catcher spot.
10. Kyle Teel (Preseason Ranking: NR)
Teel was part of my honorable mention list before the season. He recently got called up to the big leagues and has looked good in his first three games.
The 23-year-old looks like he could be a real fantasy asset for years to come, and might even be one soon if his early numbers keep up.
Honorable Mentions
Francisco Alvarez was my No. 4 dynasty catcher coming into the season, but fell completely out of my top 10. He's only logged 29 games, which is a theme of an injury-riddled career so far. It might not be fair to drop him that many spots, but until he gets in a full season and posts better numbers, I'm not comfortable with Alvarez in my top 10 for now.
Some other younger catchers who have made their MLB debuts and are worth keeping an eye on are Hunter Goodman, Ivan Herrera, Drake Baldwin and Edgar Quero.
Some veterans worth rostering now are Austin Wells, Willson Contreras, Alejandro Kirk, Keibert Ruiz, Salvador Perez and Carlos Narvaez and Gabriel Moreno.
Some other catching prospects to keep an eye on are Ethan Salas, Jeferson Quero, Blake Mitchell, Moises Ballesteros and Harry Ford.
