Luis Torrens offers power upside behind the plate following a strong August surge

Torrens has enjoyed a productive stretch for the fifth-place Mets (61-76), slashing .325 with six home runs over his last 30 days despite cooling off slightly over the past week. Serving as New York's primary catcher while Francisco Alvarez logs designated hitter duties, his regular playing time has solidified his late-season fantasy value.

While his recent home run burst is impressive, our models point to regression toward his career .230s batting average and modest power baseline. He has already eclipsed our season projection of five homers by hitting eight, making this recent tear an overachievement rather than a new baseline.

New York faces a six-game slate, opening in Tampa Bay before returning home to host San Francisco. Torrens draws attractive early matchups against Ian Seymour (4.40 ERA) and Freddy Peralta (5.15 ERA), though Shane McClanahan (3.17 ERA) and Logan Webb (3.78 ERA) present stiffer tests. Stream.
