Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire: Final Hitter Adds Before the Weekend
Looking for a weekend spark? These widely available hitters are trending up and could provide immediate fantasy value.
It's time for the final fantasy baseball waiver wire article on hitters for the week.
Here are waiver wire hitting articles from Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, plus Friday's starting pitcher streaming article.
Fantasy baseball waiver wire options can be found all season on FantasySP!
Heliot Ramos - San Francisco Giants
Ramos is rostered in 29% of fantasy baseball leagues right now. He was below 24% owned back on June 28.
He returned from a stint on the injury list on June 28, and has delivered pretty well since returning. Ramos has a hit in all but one game, and four hits overall. He has a triple and two homers among the hits.
Ramos has a .268 average and .309 on-base percentage over 48 games and 191 plate appearances this season. He has 48 knocks, including 12 doubles, six home runs and two triples. Ramos has 23 RBIs and runs scored, 11 walks and 48 strikeouts as well.
Ramos has been a solid fantasy asset in the past, but a slow start to the season and then a long IL stint has his ownership mark way down. Today is a chance to add Ramos for free in a lot of deeper leagues, especially if you need some outfield help. He could eventually work back into standard leagues as well, so keep tabs on him.
Kody Clemens - Minnesota Twins
Clemens is owned in approximately 42% of leagues right now. That's up from 35% back on June 28.
He has three hits over his past two appearances, and one of those hits was a home run. Clemens has six hits over his past six contests, with two more homers in there.
Clemens has a .241 average and .274 OBP over 74 games and 292 plate appearances this season. He has 64 total hits, including 16 doubles, 14 homers and two triples. Clemens has posted 38 RBIs and runs scored, 19 walks, six stolen bases and 63 strikeouts too.
He can play all over the field, which bumps his fantasy value up some more. I still like Clemens best in deeper leagues, but for short stints, he could be utilized in some standard leagues.
Cedric Mullins - Tampa Bay Rays
Mullins is sitting at just 10% rostered. He's been closer to 6 or 7% of late, so he's slightly up.
The veteran outfielder has back-to-back two-hit games, and has a seven-game hitting streak going overall. Mullins has a homer in three of the past four contests, and has really delivered well of late.
In 73 games and across 285 plate appearances overall, Mullins has a .217 average and .294 OBP. He has 10 homers, four doubles and a triple among his 54 total hits, plus 29 RBIs, 30 runs scored, 23 walks, 13 stolen bases and 56 strikeouts.
Mullins is slowed as a fantasy asset by a low average, but with some pop and speed, there's a little fantasy intrigue here. He's still just a deep-league fantasy option, but worth some more adds today because of how he's hitting of late.
Dalton Rushing - Los Angeles Dodgers
Rushing is now rostered in 27% of fantasy leagues. He got a bit of a boost today after the news that Will Smith was likely to miss the remainder of the LA games between now and the All-Star break.
Rushing had a four-hit game on Thursday - he doubled and homered among the knocks. The catcher also had four RBIs and three runs scored. He has eight hits over his past five contests.
The catcher (who maybe could have first base eligibility too) is getting more regular playing time with Smith out, and that bumps Rushing's fantasy outlook up for the time being. He's tough to trust outside of deeper leagues, knowing that Smith will eventually be back, forcing Rushing to sit more often. He's worth short-term adds in deeper or standard leagues now though.
Over 53 games and 181 plate appearances this season, Rushing has a .263 average and .343 OBP. He has posted 42 hits, including 10 homers and eight doubles. Rushing has 29 RBIs, 27 runs scored, 16 walks and 47 strikeouts.
Nick Gonzales - Pittsburgh Pirates
Gonzales is sitting near 35% right now. He is up a couple percent from the past couple days.
He has three-hit games in the first two contests in July, so he's trending up for that reason. Gonzales has a homer among the hits, plus three RBIs and two runs scored in that two-game span.
Overall in 82 games and across 333 plate appearances, Gonzales has a .305 average and .360 OBP. He has 11 doubles, four homers and a triple among his 93 hits, plus has added 38 RBIs, 46 runs scored, 21 walks, four stolen bases and 61 strikeouts.
He should be eligible at a few positions, which bumps his fantasy value up a bit more. Gonzales is an underappreciated fantasy asset, and deserves more utilization in deeper leagues. He could even have some short-term appeal in standard leagues, especially if he's hitting for a bit more power.
