Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire: Hidden Hitting Gems for Wednesday
Recent hot streaks, multi-position eligibility and improving production make these hitters intriguing fantasy additions.
Let's go over another round of fantasy baseball waiver wire hitting options.
Here is the waiver wire hitter article from Tuesday. Also be sure to check out Wednesday's starting pitcher streaming article.
Fantasy baseball waiver wire options can be found all season on FantasySP!
Tommy Edman - Los Angeles Dodgers
Edman has been added in 2.16% of fantasy baseball leagues so far today, and that brings his overall mark to 26.97%.
He had a four-hit game on the final day in June. Edman had a homer, four RBIs and two runs scored in that contest. He has seven hits over his past four games, and that includes a double, triple, three more RBIs and another run scored.
Edman got a very late start to his season, and has logged just 11 games and 42 plate appearances so far. He has 15 hits, including two doubles, a triple and a home run.
Edman has eight RBIs so far, along with three runs scored. He's walked four times and struck out on seven occasions.
Edman has been a pretty good fantasy asset since joining the Dodgers (shocker) a couple seasons ago. Something working in his favor for fantasy baseball is that he should be eligible at several positions.
Edman is worth adding in more deeper fantasy leagues today. If he keeps hitting, he could work into standard leagues in time, so keep tabs on him.
Javier Sanoja - Miami Marlins
Sanoja is up 3.32% and now sits at 9.36% overall.
Sanoja has been on a roll lately, tallying three-hit games in three of his past four appearances. He has a double, triple and home run among the nine hits in that span, plus seven RBIs, five runs scored and two stolen bases.
He has played in 68 games this season, and has gotten 206 plate appearances. Sanoja has 53 hits, including 14 doubles, three home runs and a triple.
Sanoja also has 32 RBIs and 19 runs scored on the season. He's stole five bases, walked 11 times and only struck out 21 times.
Sanoja is another player who can play all over the field. See where he is eligible to play - the more positions, the better his fantasy value is.
He's another guy worth adding in deeper leagues today, at least until his bat cools off a bit. I don't see Sanjoa becoming a standard league option, but if he stays red hot, he could be worth some short-term adds.
Dansby Swanson - Chicago Cubs
Swanson is rostered in 61% of fantasy leagues right now. That's up from 44% on June 23.
He has five hits over his past two games. Swanson homered twice on Tuesday, while driving in three runs and scoring twice. He had a double and a run scored in the previous game.
Swanson has a .203 average and .296 on-base percentage over 82 games and 319 plate appearances this season. He has 56 total hits, including 13 homers, 10 doubles and two triples. The veteran shortstop has 49 RBIs, 51 runs scored, 10 stolen bases, 37 walks and 76 strikeouts as well.
He's trending up of late, so he's worth adding in more fantasy leagues. I like him best in deeper leagues over the long haul, so I'm a fan of selling him high right now. He could be utilized for a short stint in standard leagues, especially if you are lacking at shortstop, or in the infield. I just think there's better long-term options out there to try instead, so don't expect long-term success out of Swanson.
Jacob Gonzalez - Chicago White Sox
Gonzalez is owned in just 4% of leagues right now. He is on the rise over the past couple days though.
He has five hits over his past two games. Gonzalez has three doubles among the hits, plus six RBIs and three runs scored.
Gonzalez is in his first big league season, and has logged 24 games and 82 plate appearances so far. He has 19 hits, including four doubles and two home runs.
The rookie has 17 RBIs and 11 runs scored so far. Gonzalez has seven walks and 19 strikeouts as well.
The primary first baseman can also play third, so dual eligibility there could help his fantasy cause. Gonzalez is trending up now though, so he's worth considering in more fantasy leagues.
First base is a loaded position, but he's delivering enough to add in more deep leagues today. Give him some consideration, or at least stream him until he cools off. If he keeps hitting, he could be added in more and more leagues as time passes.
