Looking at hitting stats over the past week to see what fantasy hitters are trending up and down.

It's time to go over some fantasy baseball hitters who are trending up and down.

From here on out, we'll combine things into one story. We'll be looking at stats from August 19-25.

Wish a real fantasy expert could break down your team, not just spit out generic advice? Now you can - get a personalized Team Breakdown, tailored for your exact league.

Most Hits

Bobby Witt Jr. led the MLB with 12 hits last week. He had three doubles and two homers among the knocks, along with seven runs scored, five RBIs, a walk, two stolen bases and two strikeouts. Witt is one of the top fantasy hitters in the league, and showed why again last week - keep rostering him instead of trying to sell him high in a trade.

Bo Bichette and Tyler Soderstrom each had 11 hits last week.

Bichette had three doubles among his knocks, while also posting seven runs scored, two RBIs, four walks and two strikeouts. He's enjoyed a pretty strong season and is owned in all fantasy leagues. Bichette is a guy to probably just hang on to down the stretch, unless you are set at shortstop and can afford to sell him.

Soderstrom had three doubles and a homer among his knocks. He posted five runs scored and walks, an RBI and stolen base and six strikeouts as well. He's trending up as a result of his big week and sits at 95% owned. I think he should be owned in all leagues looking at his season-long numbers and recent hot stretch.

Fewest Hits

Marcell Ozuna and Ernie Clement were among the qualified hitters with only one hit last week.

Ozuna doubled for his lone hit. He had three runs scored, an RBI, five walks and eight strikeouts. It's been a very disappointing fantasy season for Ozuna, who is down to 80% rostered. He probably doesn't deserve to be owned in even that many leagues, so assess your team and then some waiver wire options to see if there's a better replacement available.

Clement had a double for his only hit, while also tallying a run scored, no RBIs, a walk and stolen base and three strikeouts. He's been in and out of hot/cold stretches all season, and is a drop candidate or waiver wire add depending on which way he's trending. He's trending down now and is rostered in 59% of leagues and dropping. I'd look elsewhere for standard league help for the time being, but don't write him off for good.

Most RBIs

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. led the MLB with 14 RBIs last week. He had three homers among his seven total hits, while also having four runs scored and four strikeouts. Gurriel is up to 76% rostered now, and is a good streaming option until his bat cools off.

Jeff McNeil had 12 RBIs over six games and 25 plate appearances last week. He had eight hits, including three homers and two doubles, while also posting five runs scored, two walks and three strikeouts. McNeil is a waiver wire option early in the week, and has jumped up about 16% to 30% overall in the past couple days. Add him if you have a need where McNeil is eligible to play.

Vinnie Pasquantino had 10 RBIs across his 10 hits last week. He had two doubles and five homers (which led the MLB) among the hits, while also posting six runs scored, two walks and four strikeouts. Pasquantino is up to 98% rostered, and really should already be at 100% after looking at his recent hot stretch and season-long numbers.

Most Strikeouts

James Wood struck out a whopping 17 times over seven games and 31 plate appearances last week. He had eight hits as well, including two doubles, so it wasn't all bad. Wood had three RBIs and two runs scored and walks. Wood is still owned in all leagues, but the strikeouts are really wiping out some fantasy value, so I wouldn't be opposed to moving him to the highest bidder.

Shea Langeliers struck out 12 times over 28 plate appearances. He only had four hits, but they were a double and three homers - Langeliers also had three runs scored, nine RBIs and a walk. He offset some solid numbers with all the Ks, but still did enough to maintain a high own percentage (98%).

Willson Contreras struck out 11 times over 27 plate appearances. He had eight hits, including three homers and a double, while also having five runs scored, six RBIs and a walk. Contreras is rostered in 97% of leagues, and usually produces enough despite higher K numbers to maintain a good fantasy value.

Other Hitters Trending Up

Jared Triolo had a .476 average last week, collecting 10 hits along the way. He had two doubles and homers and a triple among the hits, along with three runs scored, five RBIs, two walks, a stolen base and five strikeouts. Triolo is a waiver wire add right now and has jumped way up to 15% owned, after barely being rostered a couple days ago.

Cedric Mullins hit .444 last week, with a double and triple among eight total hits. He added two runs scored and RBIs, three stolen bases and walks and two strikeouts. Mullins is holding steady around 58% rostered, and will need better all-around production to see that percentage rise.

Brenton Doyle hit .421 last week, with three homers and two doubles among his eight knocks. He also had eight RBIs, three runs scored, a stolen base, no walks and just one strikeout. Doyle has struggled most of this season, but is trending up of late - he's now rostered in 71% of leagues and could be a good add for the stretch run.

Miguel Vargas had a .350 average, eight runs scored, six walks, three RBIs and five strikeouts last week. He had four doubles among his seven hits. Vargas is trending up, but is only at 33% rostered - he's an underrated deep-league asset.

Other Hitters Trending Down

Steven Kwan got on base at a .120 clip last week. Across 25 plate appearances, he singled for both of his hits and walked just once. Kwan had one run scored, no RBIs, and two strikeouts. Kwan doesn't have many poor weeks, but this was one of them - another could drop his own percentage from 98%.

Michael Harris II had a .125 on-base percentage over 24 plate appearances. He homered among his two hits and failed to walk - he also posted two runs scored and RBIs, a stolen base and six walks. Harris had been trending up, but regressed last week, yet is still owned in 94% of leagues - I think that should start dropping.

Jose Altuve, Mike Trout, Matt Olson and Ian Happ were among the qualified hitters with no RBIs.

Altuve (100% owned) had five hits, including two doubles, and one walk over 27 plate appearances. He scored three runs and struck out five times. It's a time to possibly buy low on Altuve, who doesn't have too many down weeks.

Trout (95% rostered) had a double among his four hits, while also having two walks, a run scored and nine strikeouts. It's been a disappointing season for a relatively healthy Trout, and he'll continue to be dropped if he doesn't pick up the production.

Olson (100% rostered) doubled twice among his five knocks, while also walking once, scoring four times and striking out on nine occasions. He could be acquired for a bit cheaper after a slower week, but his trade value doesn't move all that much anyways.

Happ (81% owned) had a double among his four knocks, while also posting three runs scored, six walks and five strikeouts. He's been dropped in more and more leagues, and that'll continue until his production increases overall.
