Alex Lange shows signs of stability in setup role for streaking Royals

Lange has quietly stabilized over his last 14 days, logging a 3.60 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with five strikeouts across five appearances, including three perfect innings over the past week. He continues to see high-leverage innings for a Royals squad (58-74) that is currently riding an impressive eight-game winning streak. With fellow reliever Carlos Estévez on the 60-day injured list, Lange is sharing late-inning duties behind primary closer Steven Cruz.

While Lange has collected 10 saves this year, his ugly 6.36 ERA and 1.61 WHIP across 49 appearances sit well behind our baseline projection of a 3.83 ERA. His recent scoreless appearances represent positive regression toward his career norms, but lingering command lapses and traffic on the basepaths mean he remains a constant ratio liability.

Kansas City embarks on a six-game road swing against the Blue Jays and Guardians this week. Our projections expect Lange to handle roughly 3.1 innings with 2.8 strikeouts, but with few save opportunities anticipated, his fantasy value remains muted outside of deep holds formats. Sit.
