Fantasy Football Tight End Rankings for Week 8: Harold Fannin, Oronde Gadsden, Cade Otton and More
Morgan gives his week 8 fantasy football rankings for tight ends.
It's time to get cracking on our week 8 fantasy football rankings!
With six teams on byes this week, things are going to be a bit tougher across the board. We'll start with the tight end position here, and look at things through a PPR lens.
Check back later for the rankings for quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers.

Give me Ferguson in the top spot for week 8. He's been the best fantasy tight end so far, so he's deserving.
Ferguson will take on the Broncos, who are a tougher matchup. He's delivered for several straight weeks, so I'm not betting against Ferguson now.
2. Tyler Warren
Warren was an option for the top spot this week, but a similarly tough matchup against the Titans is holding him back.
I still expect him to get the job done, like he has most of the season.
3. Tucker Kraft
Kraft has a very favorable matchup against the Steelers, so I'm giving him my No. 3 spot this week.
Kraft has scored in double figures in all but one game, and has scored four times, so he's a high-upside play, with a pretty solid floor too.
Kittle didn't catch a pass in his return to the field, but I'm not going to be too harsh on him, especially in a week with so many tight ends unavailable.
He has the Texans in week 8. Houston is another very tough fantasy matchup, but I expect Kittle to be more involved this week, and deliver for his fantasy owners.
Kincaid hasn't played in a few weeks because of an injury and then the Bills' bye week, so hopefully that was enough time for him to heal up.
He has a really favorable matchup coming against the Panthers, so that's why I'm so high on him this week. On a per-week basis, Kincaid has been a top-five tight end so far, so this spot isn't as crazy as some might think.
Goedert is actually averaging more fantasy points per game than Kincaid, but after a weak showing in week 7, I'm a touch down on him for week 8.
He has the Giants this weekend, who are a below-average test, but nothing too crazy. Goedert had 110 yards and a score on nine receptions and 11 targets against them a couple weeks ago, so my ranking for him could end up being too low.
7. Travis Kelce
Kelce has an average matchup coming against the Commanders.
He was solid last week with Rashee Rice back in the lineup, and while I'm not super high on him the rest of the season, he's a top-10 option on a heavy bye week.
Gadsden broke out in week 7, and has been trending up over the past two weeks now.
He has the Vikings in week 8 - Minnesota is a below-average matchup, but again, nothing too crazy. I expect him to deliver at least average results.
I'm not high on Hockenson this season, but this week, he gets a top-10 spot.
He faces the Chargers, who are another below-average test, and a bit more difficult one at that.
10. Cade Otton
Otton has been trending up over the past couple weeks, and he should remain involved after the injury to Mike Evans.
He has a clash against the Saints, who are a slightly better than average matchup for him. We'll see if Otton can stack another good fantasy showing in week 8.
11. Kyle Pitts Sr.
Pitts has three double-digit fantasy showings across six games, but he's just outside the top 10 with those marks.
After a good outing in week 7, he gets the Dolphins in week 8. Miami is another above-average test, so Pitts could surprise again.
12. Mark Andrews
Andrews has underperformed in most games this week, but he is near the top 10 for week 8.
He has the Bears this week - Chicago is another above-average matchup for fantasy TEs. Andrews would get a boost if Lamar Jackson can return, but I'd still take him here if Jackson cannot play.
13. Hunter Henry
Henry has cooled off since the start of the season, but he's remained involved enough to rank here for me.
A pretty so-so matchup against the Browns is a chance for him to show up for fantasy owners again, so we'll see if he can do just that.
14. Zach Ertz
Ertz has a score in back-to-back games, but not a ton of production otherwise. That's why he ranks here, instead of any higher.
He gets the Chiefs in week 8, and KC is a brutal test for a tight end, which is another reason why he isn't ranked any higher.
15. Harold Fannin
Fannin didn't take advantage of a golden opportunity in week 7, but I still have him as the top Cleveland tight end for this coming week.
He has a pretty average test against the Patriots, so I expect an average-or-so finish from him.
16. Juwan Johnson
Johnson showed out for fantasy owners last week, which was his first time in double digits since week 3.
In a slightly above-average test against the Bucs, I could see Johnson delivering another pretty good fantasy score, so don't overlook him this week.
16. Evan Engram
Engram has been steady, but unimpressive over the past four weeks. That's mostly why he ranks here for me.
Dallas is an average matchup for tight ends, so a pretty average ranking makes sense in my eyes.
17. Mason Taylor
Taylor has fizzled out the past two weeks, but that's more to do with awful quarterback play. I think I'd like Tyrod Taylor throwing to him over Justin Fields this week.
Week 8 is a chance for him to shine, as he's got the best fantasy matchup for a tight end against the Bengals. We'll see if Taylor can make this ranking look foolish.
18. David Njoku
Njoku was out in week 7, so that's why I said Fannin didn't take advantage of an opportunity.
If Njoku is back this week, I see him only delivering modest results against the Patriots. It could be one of his last games with the Browns.
19. Dalton Schultz
Schultz was stellar in week 7, and has been pretty solid over his past four games. With Nico Collins maybe out for week 8, Schultz could really shine, but I don't trust the Houston offense, so he falls to 19th.
He has a pretty average test against the Niners, so Schultz is at least a deep-league starting option.
20. Pat Freiermuth
Freiermuth broke out in week 7, so I'm rolling the dice on him again this coming week.
A stellar matchup against the Packers is why I have him here, and he won't be the only Steeler tight end to make my top 25.
21. Theo Johnson
Johnson had a nice fantasy showing in week 7, and has three double-digit performances over his past four games. Four scores over that timeframe is boosting his fantasy value, so that's why I don't rank him higher.
He has a very tough test against the Eagles in week 8. Johnson had 27 yards on two catches and four targets against them a couple weeks ago.
22. Noah Fant
Fant had his best fantasy showing of the season in week 7, although a touchdown helped matters.
He has a pretty favorable matchup against the Jets this coming week, so he could continue his upward trend with Joe Flacco around.
23. Chig Okonkwo
Okonkwo didn't have a single catch last week, but I'm not writing him off yet.
He has the Colts this week, who he totaled 66 yards on five catches and six targets on earlier this season. The Colts are a favorable fantasy matchup for tight ends, so Okonkwo could easily outperform my ranking for him.
24. Jonnu Smith
Smith was outproduced by Freiermuth, but also scored a touchdown last week.
In the favorable matchup against the Packers, both he and Freiermuth could deliver for fantasy owners.
25. Colston Loveland
Loveland hasn't really gotten going this season, but he has been trending up across his past two games.
In a pretty favorable test against the Ravens this week, I could see Loveland delivering his best game yet.
