Need Tuesday Pitching Help? Target These 4 Under-the-Radar Streamers

September 1: MLB rosters have expanded from 26 to 28, no new player can be added to the 40-man roster and appear in the postseason, and we have less than four weeks remaining in the 2026 regular season. Three of the six divisions are within five games, and at least six teams are fighting for the Wild Card in each league (including the teams currently holding those spots). We are set up for a possibly good finish, and that's all we can ask for as baseball fans.

Moving to fantasy baseball, let's look at four starting pitchers in action on Tuesday who are widely available in fantasy leagues and have good matchups. Most stats are from MLB.com, as are the probable pitchers. The full streamer rankings are listed at the bottom.

Spencer Arrighetti, Toronto Blue Jays @ Cleveland Guardians

Arrighetti spent about a month on the IL and was acquired by the Blue Jays from the Astros at the deadline while he was injured. He has made two appearances with Toronto, and it hasn't gone well: 7 1/3 innings, eight hits, seven runs, four walks, and eight strikeouts. Through his career, Arrighetti has generally been an above-average strikeout pitcher who walks too many hitters, and that has also been true in 2026. He's generally decent limiting hits and home runs, but the control issues can get him into trouble.

Cleveland has clear bottom-10 offensive numbers over the full season, bordering on bottom five. They have been better over the past 30 days, looking at least like an average offense; I still trust the longer numbers, though, and see them as a good target. The Guardians still aren't hitting for any power, so they aren't as dangerous as some other groups even when they are hot. They also don't strike out, so the ceiling is a little lower than we'd like.

Arrighetti is a low-to-mid-level streamer. His strikeout numbers are appealing, but the matchup might not be at its peak right now, and Arrighetti has struggled in his new digs since returning from injury, so we can temper expectations just a bit.

J.T. Ginn, Athletics @ Texas Rangers

The Rangers are another team with many bottom-10 numbers across the full season, but unlike Cleveland, Texas is also in that lowly group over the past month. A team with playoff aspirations, the Rangers are below .500 but could easily take the division, as the entire group has struggled to stay over the break-even point all season. We especially like going after Texas when they play at home because Globe Life Field in Arlington is one of the best pitcher's parks in baseball, so there's some extra value in targeting the Rangers today.

Ginn has average-or-better box numbers over the full season, but his best work came early in the season. He allowed at least three runs in all five of his August starts (though only one run was earned in one of those outings), and Ginn has been a hair worse than average with both BBs and Ks. He has done very well limiting hits this season, but walks can cause a bit of an issue from time to time.

Ginn is a low-to-mid-level streamer. He was a better strikeout pitcher last season, something that would bump him up a little, but sitting a little below average keeps his ceiling down a bit. Ginn is worth considering today, though his recent work doesn't portend the best outlook.

Eric Lauer, Los Angeles Dodgers vs. St. Louis Cardinals

Lauer moved to the bullpen for a short time after starting most of his games in LA, but Roki Sasaki hit the IL with a blister issue, so Lauer is back in the rotation for this one. He has been decent with the Dodgers, limiting hits, runs, and walks, but Lauer has been a little susceptible to the long ball, and his strikeout rate is a painfully low 15.6% this season, far down from his career number of 21.4% (which is right around average). That leaves him with a low ceiling, though his other numbers are good enough to at least consider him when the matchup is right.

The Cardinals haven't been a bottom-level offense at any time this season, but they have topped out as middling for much of it, sometimes playing even worse. They are a little below average in most categories and have shown no power, ranking in the bottom 10 in doubles, home runs, slugging percentage, and OPS. St. Louis did hit well in August, rating out above average in most areas, and they don't strike out much, so the matchup might not be as good as the full-season numbers indicate.

Lauer is a low-level streamer. With St. Louis playing better, I'm not terribly keen on going after them, though we still will consider it on the right days (like today). Lauer's low-level strikeout work brings him down to this level; his career work would be worthy of a half-notch bump.

Randy Vasquez, San Diego Padres @ Cincinnati Reds

Cincinnati's story hasn't changed much: they draw walks at a decent clip and hit plenty of home runs, but they don't do anything else at even an average level. They rank better in runs recently, but the Reds have scored at a bottom-10 rate over the full season. The best thing they do for our purposes is strike out, as Cincinnati and Pittsburgh are now fighting for the most K-prone team in the league (with the Angels not far behind). That sets a nice ceiling for opposing pitchers on any given day.

Vasquez has done well in every area this season aside from strikeouts. He has always been good with walks and limiting home runs while doing average work limiting hits, but Vasquez has a career K% of just 14.8%, and his 2026 number is just about the same. At least Lauer has good strikeout work in his past; Vasquez has shown consistently that he doesn't strike batters out, and he has found mild success in defiance of that fact, something not every pitcher can do in today's game.

Vasquez is another low-to-mid-level streamer. I don't mind giving him a look when the matchup is right, but Vasquez holds a low ceiling, keeping him as a bit of a risky fantasy player.
