Tuesday Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Hitting Targets: Salas, Story, and More

Ethan Salas - San Diego Padres

Salas is rostered in 5.59% of fantasy baseball leagues right now. He's reportedly getting called up to the big leagues for the first time as rosters expand for September.

Salas is the No. 23 prospect in baseball, so he has some high expectations as his big league career begins. He's just 20 years old, and is debuting earlier than most expected. San Diego is hoping Salas can help the team during its playoff push.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound catcher hits left-handed and was signed by the Padres back in 2023. Over 283 career minor league games, he has a .246 average and .328 on-base percentage. Salas has 137 runs scored, 160 RBIs, 130 walks, 236 strikeouts and 34 stolen bases - among his 257 total hits, he's posted 60 doubles, 23 home runs and six triples.

The Padres aren't going to call up a top prospect to have him sitting the bench - expect him in the lineup regularly. If he delivers at the plate, he could be a good fantasy asset right away.

I think he's worth adding and utilizing in some deeper leagues right away. Depending on how he fares at the plate, he could be owned in all deeper leagues in a hurry, then maybe work into standard leagues too.

He's one to keep tabs on, but his best value is definitely still in dynasty/keeper leagues.

Trevor Story - Boston Red Sox 

Story just returned from the injured list, and is back on the rise as a result. He's sitting at 24.86% owned right now.

In his first two games back, Story has collected four hits, including two doubles. He has three RBIs and a run scored as well, while striking out two times.

Story has underwhelmed as a fantasy asset in 2026 because he's missed so much time. He's played in just 43 games overall, and has 184 plate appearances.

Story is hitting just .220, while getting on base at a .255 clip. He has 22 RBIs, 17 runs scored, four stolen bases, eight walks and 59 strikeouts as well. Among his 38 total hits, Story has nine doubles and three homers.

He's hitting since returning from the IL, and can be a good fantasy asset at times, so he's worth adding back in deeper leagues, at least. The shortstop is at a loaded fantasy spot, so that will likely hold him back from being added in a ton of standard leagues. At such a critical point of the fantasy season, it's all about utilizing the best fantasy hitters, and Story might be trending that way, so don't shy away from utilizing him if it makes sense for your squad.

Luke Keaschall - Minnesota Twins

Keaschall continues to see his fantasy own percentage rise, and it sits at 74.86% now.

He has a four-game hitting streak going as a new month begins. Keaschall has seven hits, including two doubles and a homer, in that stretch. He's also drove in a run, scored six times, walked twice, stole a base and struck out just once.

Keaschall has a .277 average and .367 OBP over 129 games and 516 plate appearances, so he's been a pretty good asset in 2026. Throw in that he's eligible at second base and in the outfield and his fantasy value is a bit higher.

Keashall has 23 doubles, nine home runs and a triple among his 122 hits this season. He's got 41 RBIs, 66 runs scored, 16 stolen bases, 50 walks and 78 strikeouts too.

He might not hit for a ton of power, but a good average and OBP, plus a lower strikeout mark makes him more appealing. Toss in dual position eligibility, and hot hitting of late, and you have a better fantasy asset. Keashall should be owned/utilized in all deeper leagues, and he's worth more standard league usage too.

George Springer - Toronto Blue Jays

Springer is sitting at 75.42% rostered, which is up from 65.99% on August 28.

He has a five-game hitting streak going, and collected 10 knocks over that stretch. Springer has two home runs and three triples among the hits, plus four RBIs, five runs scored, a stolen base, two walks and three strikeouts.

Springer is another guy who has had his season altered by injuries. He's played in 106 games, getting 440 plate appearances, and has a .254 average and .330 OBP so far.

He's got 45 RBIs, 51 runs scored, 11 stolen bases, 42 walks and 80 strikeouts. Springer has 99 total hits, including 19 doubles, 14 homers and two triples.

The primary designated hitter should still have eligibility in the outfield from past seasons, but that's still a loaded fantasy position, so he's not owned in more leagues. Springer is trending up of late, so he's worth deep-league usage, and more standard league utilization right now. Roll with him for as long as his bat is hot.
