This Surprising Wednesday SP Streamer Has the Ultimate Fantasy Baseball Matchup
Five starting pitchers with good matchups on Wednesday who are widely available in fantasy leagues.
Yesterday was a pretty good day for our streamers: three of the five pitchers listed picked up the win in their game, and one of the two who didn't was facing one of the pitchers who did win. Streaming is risky business because we are looking at players who owners generally don't want on their rosters. To hit on 60% is a success in this part of fantasy land.
Let's look at five starting pitchers in action on Wednesday who are widely available in fantasy leagues and have good matchups. Most stats are from MLB.com, as are the probable starters. The full streamer rankings are listed at the bottom.

Sam Aldegheri, Los Angeles Angels @ Arizona Diamondbacks
Aldegheri has just 43 2/3 innings to his name spread over this season and the past two. He has been well worse than average with both walks and strikeouts; that's not a good start. While doing OK with hits and home runs, Aldegheri has given up too many runs, which can be linked directly to his lack of control. He was decent in the minor leagues, including average-or-better strikeout work, but Aldegheri struggled this season in the minors, actually doing better in the majors in 2026.
The Diamondbacks are in the bottom 10 in most offensive box stats, but they are closer to 20th than 30th in most of those numbers, making them more of a below-average offense than a basement team. They also rank very low in batter strikeouts, so they don't set a high ceiling for opposing pitchers. I like targeting Arizona, but I don't love it (and this game is in Phoenix at a good hitter's park).
Aldegheri is a low-level streamer. He just hasn't been good enough in his short time to really trust him in any matchup, though the sample is small enough that he could turn that notion around quickly with a few more good outings.
Peter Lambert, Houston Astros vs. Detroit Tigers
Detroit is another team like Arizona that is closer to the top of the bottom 10 than the true bottom of the league, leaving them below average (and a good target) but not one of our favorite teams to go after. They also rank in the top 10 in most batter strikeouts, so they set a better ceiling than the Diamondbacks, making them a more appealing target.
Lambert has 300 2/3 career innings stretching back to 2019, but that includes time interspersed with injuries, stints in the minors, and a season in Japan. His career numbers aren't great, but he has been at his best in 2026, allowing just 44 hits, 22 runs, and five homers in 57 innings. While his strikeout rate is average, he's also holding a worse-than-average walk rate, though that number isn't too far from the middle. There's intrigue here to go along with plenty of risk.
Lambert is a low-to-mid-level streamer. I'm not too keen on trusting Lambert for big things, but he has found some success this year and has the matchup in his favor in this one.
Kyle Leahy, St. Louis Cardinals vs. San Diego Padres
Leahy is OK with walks, but he's a below-average strikeout pitcher who has given up too many hits, runs, and home runs this season. He has been very average in about 200 career innings, making Leahy a decent streaming option, but he doesn't have a great ceiling and is more of a deep-league option for now.
The matchup is the real reason that Leahy is listed here, as San Diego has continually been one of our top fantasy targets all season. Before Tuesday's games (San Diego lost 3-2 yesterday), the Padres ranked last in runs, hits, batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, and OPS. They are also in the bottom 10 (or very close to it) in doubles, home runs, and walks. Their strikeout number ranks in the middle, but that's the only thing that keeps them from being the ideal target on paper.
Leahy is a low-to-mid-level streamer. The matchup puts him on the map, but it's better to expect a decent outing from Leahy than something great; that's still worth consideration.
Max Scherzer, Toronto Blue Jays vs. Boston Red Sox
Scherzer returned from more than a month on the IL to start against the Phillies last Wednesday. It didn't go well: 3 1/3 innings, five hits, five runs, two home runs, three walks, and four strikeouts. That follows his season pattern of making short starts and giving up a lot of hits and runs, making it nearly impossible to trust him in fantasy. With more performances like he has had, the Blue Jays might not trust him for much longer either.
The Red Sox rank in the bottom five in runs, home runs, and walks and just above that level in on-base percentage, slugging percentage, and OPS. Another team that surely had thoughts on contending for the playoffs, Boston has seriously been let down by their offense on the way to a last-place standing in the AL East and record 12 games below .500.
Scherzer is a low-level streamer. While the matchup is right, there's just no way to trust Scherzer right now, leaving him off the streaming radar even in the deepest leagues.
Brandon Sproat, Milwaukee Brewers vs. Cleveland Guardians
The Guardians are battling for the division lead with the surprising White Sox, but they have a negative run differential, pointing toward a team that's middling, not a contender. They rank in the bottom 10 in most offensive box stats, performing well with doubles and walks but not much else. Cleveland also doesn't strike out much, so they don't set the best ceiling, but there's plenty of value in targeting the Guardians right now.
In 80 2/3 innings over the past two seasons, Sproat has been good with strikeouts while walking too many hitters. He has a BB rate of 11.5% this season (versus league average around 8-9%) and has allowed a home run every five innings (average is closer to seven); those two things can combine to sink a pitcher over a longer stretch. Sproat was good but not great in the minors, so there might be a ceiling on how high he can rise.
Sproat is a low-to-mid-level streamer. His average strikeout work brings some intrigue, and the matchup is good, but Sproat has also been hit too hard to fully trust for a good outing.
