Brandon Sproat | Fantasy Outlook

Brandon Sproat remains in Triple-A working on command after August demotion

Sproat has not pitched in the majors for over two weeks after being optioned to the minors in early August following inconsistent outings. Across his final 30 days with Milwaukee, the right-hander labored to a 6.14 ERA and 1.82 WHIP over 13.2 innings. He remains off the active roster for the first-place Brewers (78-49) as they continue to pace the NL Central.

Through 21 starts this season, Sproat flashed excellent strikeout ability with 100 punchouts across 91.7 innings, but struggled to a 5.50 ERA and 48 walks. While our baseline model projected a 4.27 ERA, his high pitch counts and frequent deep counts forced the organization to prioritize his development in the minors.

Milwaukee's rotation is locked in with Jacob Misiorowski, Logan Henderson, and Shane Drohan taking turns against Atlanta, leaving Sproat without a major-league role this week. Fantasy managers in standard formats should keep him on waivers until he earns a recall to the big-league rotation. Sit.
