Fantasy Baseball Weekly Projections: Top Hitters & Pitchers to Add Now

The first series of the MLB regular season are in the books. We've learned a bit, and now turn our attention to the first full week of the season.

Here, let's go over weekly projections and highlight a handful of hitters and pitchers to add/stream for the coming week.

Munetaka Murakami - Chicago White Sox

Murakami is rostered in about 89% of fantasy leagues right now. In the first week of the season, I'm going to highlight players who are already owned in most leagues, but not all of them - that will change as the season progresses, but it's worth mentioning the top-projected players right now.

Murakami was one of the lone bright spots for Chicago during a three-game sweep at the hands of Milwaukee. He had three hits (all solo homers). Murakami also walked four times, scored four runs and struck out four times over 13 plate appearances.

Chicago might not be a great team, but Murakami could be a great fantasy asset on his power numbers alone. We'll see how he progresses, but I'm all for adding Murakami today.

He has six games coming over the week.

JJ Wetherholt - St. Louis Cardinals

Wetherholt has six games as well this coming week. He's rostered in 85% of leagues right now.

Wetherholt got 15 plate appearances over the team's first three games of the season. He had four hits, including a home run. Wetherholt added four RBIs, two runs scored, a stolen base, a walk and only struck out once.

The highly-regarded prospect looked good in the first series and could be one of the top fantasy players for the Cardinals, even if the team isn't the best this season. That makes him a guy to add this week, and maybe hold all season.

Chase DeLauter - Cleveland Guardians 

DeLauter was special in the first series, and now has six games for the coming week. He's owned in 88% of leagues.

In four games and across 17 plate appearances so far, DeLauter had six hits, including four home runs. He added five RBIs and runs scored, no walks and struck out six times.

He's another highly-regarded prospect that delivered big in the first series of the year. DeLauter won't keep homering every game, but he looks the part and could be a season-long fantasy asset, so add and hold him for the time being.

Kevin McGonigle - Detroit Tigers 

McGonigle is another rookie who was a bright spot in the first series of the year. He's currently owned in 84% of leagues and he has six games this coming week.

In three games and over 13 plate appearances, McGonigle had five hits, including two doubles. He drove in four runs, scored twice, walked once and struck out three times.

He's another highly-regarded prospect, so his start to the season was really positive. McGonigle could stick as a fantasy asset, so add him now and enjoy his rookie campaign.

Luis Robert Jr. - New York Mets 

Robert has seven games this coming week, so that works in his favor. He's rostered in 86% of fantasy leagues at the moment.

Robert was fantastic in his first series with the Mets, collecting five hits over three games and 14 plate appearances. He homered once, drove in five runs, scored three times, walked three times and struck out twice.

Robert has had high expectations for years, but struggled on a bad White Sox team. Now in a better fantasy situation, Robert could deliver more in 2026, so add him now and you maybe can keep him all season.

Jack Leiter - Texas Rangers

Leiter is the first pitcher I want to mention - I am going to highlight three others. He is set to make two starts this week, and he's rostered in just 53% of leagues right now.

Leiter gets the Orioles on Monday, then is set to start against the Reds later in the week. Those are pretty solid matchups on paper, so we'll see if he can deliver.

In 2025, Leiter made 29 starts, posting a 10-10 record and 3.86 earned run average. He had a 1.28 WHIP and struck out 148 batters over 151 2/3 innings.

I like the idea of streaming Leiter, and with two starts this week, he's worth holding for his start later in the week if he looks good later today.

Clay Holmes - New York Mets

Holmes has two starts as well for the coming week. He is owned in about 43% of leagues right now.

He's set to face the Cardinals on Monday, then the Giants later in the week. Both those matchups look pretty good on paper, so Holmes could be worth adding and holding all week, and maybe longer.

I'm surprised he isn't owned in more leagues already after posting a 3.53 ERA over 33 games (31 starts) in 2025. He was 12-8 and struck out 129 batters over 165 2/3 innings. Holmes had a 1.30 WHIP.

Consider streaming him tonight, then holding him for his start later in the week if he looks good. He could be worth holding, so just hold him until the stats say not to.

Kyle Harrison - Milwaukee Brewers

Harrison will make his Brewers' debut this week. He's set to start on Monday against the Rays, then face the Royals later in the week.

Harrison is owned in 21% of fantasy leagues, and that could rise in a big way this week. I like both his matchups, and if he excels with Milwaukee, he could become a season-long fantasy asset.

Harrison has a career 4.39 ERA, but the Brewers have been known for getting the best out of pitchers, so a career season seems doable for Harrison. He strikes out about a batter per inning, and if he improves his ERA, his fantasy value will be up.

Consider streaming Harrison tonight in deeper leagues, then hold him until his numbers drop. He could become a standard league asset in a hurry, so watch his results tonight and be ready to pounce if you don't want to add him quite yet.

Chris Bassitt - Baltimore Orioles

Bassitt is another starting pitcher with two scheduled starts for the week. He is set to face Texas tonight, then Pittsburgh later in the week.

He's owned in 40% of fantasy leagues right now. That could rise really quickly if he excels this week.

Bassitt will be making his first starts with Baltimore after a nice run with the Blue Jays. He was 11-9 with a 3.96 ERA last season over 32 appearances (31 starts). Bassitt had 166 punchouts over 170 1/3 innings.

Test him out tonight in deeper leagues, and maybe even some standard leagues, and watch his own percentage rise if he excels in the early going.

Braxton Ashcraft - Pittsburgh Pirates

Ashcraft is also scheduled for two starts this week. He's rostered in about 52% of leagues at the moment.

He's set to face the Reds tonight, then the Orioles later in the week. I like those matchups and think Ashcraft could emerge as a fantasy asset if he looks good this week.

Ashcraft made 26 appearances in 2025, with only eight starts. He was 4-4 with a 2.71 ERA, striking out 71 batters over 69 2/3 innings.

There are some good marks in there, but now transitioning to the rotation, we'll see if Ashcraft can keep things rolling. He could rise as a fantasy asset in a hurry, starting with tonight's showing.

Give him some streaming consideration today, and be ready to pounce if he looks good today, and later this week.
