Week 7 Fantasy Football Drop Candidates: McConkey, Adams, Lloyd, and More
Several injuries and disappointing performances have created tough roster decisions ahead of Week 7. Here's who you can drop and who you should hold.
After looking into a bunch of Week 7 fantasy football waiver wire options, let's now discuss some possible drop candidates!
We have several players to discuss, so let's jump right into things!
The Fantasy Sports Assistant can now answer questions you have after doing team breakdowns or waiver wire analysis!
Terry McLaurin - Washington Commanders
McLaurin is owned in most leagues right now, but that will plummet after getting injured on Monday night. The extent of the injury isn't known yet, but most expect him to miss the remainder of the season.
If he's out for the season, McLaurin can definitely be dropped in all redraft leagues. Hold him in dynasty leagues, and hopefully he's able to return in a season to come and be productive.
McLaurin played in five games this season before succumbing to injury. He has 230 yards and a touchdown across 15 catches and 27 targets.

With him now out, Stefon Diggs will lead the Commanders' pass catchers. Others will need to step up, as McLaurin has been a top-end option for the team over most of his eight-year career. Injuries have hindered McLaurin in two straight years, so hopefully he's able to bounce back in 2027 and beyond.
MarShawn Lloyd - Green Bay Packers
Lloyd was sitting above 90% owned for Week 6, but he's going to drop a good ways after an uninspiring performance.
He finished with just 10 rushing yards across eight carries, while failing to bring in his lone target in the passing game. It was another poor outing in a season of up-and-down performances.
Lloyd is simply hard to trust right now, and he lost snaps and touches to Pierre Strong, who easily outperformed Lloyd. Now, Josh Jacobs is expected back, pushing Lloyd, and Strong, further down the depth chart.
That makes Lloyd droppable, especially in standard leagues. I'd hold Lloyd in deeper leagues for now, but if he's barely getting work when Jacobs is back, then Lloyd can be dropped in those leagues too.
Romeo Doubs - New England Patriots
Doubs was another player over 90% earlier this month, but he's going to drop significantly after being placed on the injured reserve list due to a shoulder injury.
He played in the team's first six games, catching 14 of his 24 targets for 261 yards and three touchdowns. Doubs caught a 42-yard touchdown before leaving the Week 6 contest.
Doubs' outlook was already lower with the return of A.J. Brown, and now out for at least four weeks, Doubs can be safely dropped in most redraft leagues - you could stash him if you have an IR spot open.
Doubs is one to stash in deeper leagues yet, especially if you have IR spots open. He could be a decent option later this season if he's able to heal up and get back on the field, so be ready to add/utilize him then.
Davante Adams - Los Angeles Rams
Adams is owned in all leagues, but is set to miss significant time with a hamstring injury. He's expected to miss 6-10 weeks.
In his first six games, Adams caught 30 of his 49 targets for 480 yards and four touchdowns. He's been a very good fantasy asset, even with Puka Nacua around.
It's a bummer that Adams is out, especially because of the caliber of player he is. He is one to stash through the injury, but that timeline could also mean you don't get to use Adams much more, so in time, he could become droppable.
It really depends on your roster size and overall wide receiver depth. If you can get by without Adams and would rather use that roster spot for another position, then make the drop. I'd see if anyone would trade for Adams first, as someone might take the gamble, and offer you something better than what's available on the waiver wire.
Jacory Croskey-Merritt - Washington Commanders
Croskey-Merritt is at 76% owned right now, but that will fall after he got placed on IR on Monday. He has a groin injury that will cost him the next few weeks.
In the first five games of the season, JCM had 239 rushing yards and two touchdowns across 67 attempts. He had 40 receiving yards on five catches and seven targets as well.
Croskey-Merritt wasn't a must-own fantasy asset, so he becomes droppable in standard leagues after the injury and IR placement. He could be dropped in some deeper leagues as well, especially if you are lacking roster/IR spots.
He could factor in later this season, so keep him in mind down the line. For now, either drop him, or stash him at the end of your bench or in an IR spot.
Emanuel Wilson - Seattle Seahawks
Wilson is owned in most leagues now, but is going to fall with Zach Charbonnet expected back soon, and after Wilson's production has dipped.
Wilson had a decent run as the RB1 in Seattle. Across six games, he rushed for 303 yards and two touchdowns on 87 attempts. Wilson also had 50 receiving yards and a score on five catches and eight targets. Wilson had 14 rushes for 52 yards and failed to catch his lone target in Week 6.
Charbonnet is expected to take over the lead role in the backfield when he's healthy, and that could come as early as Week 7. Rookie Jadarian Price could eventually return too, and then Wilson's fantasy outlook could evaporate completely.
For now, I don't love the idea of dropping Wilson. That could change later this week if Charbonnet is cleared and gets activated. I'd probably still try to hold Wilson another week, just in case Charbonnet doesn't lead to backfield, as we all expect.
So unless you are stacked with running backs, I'd hold Wilson at least one more week, and that goes for all leagues.
Ladd McConkey - Los Angeles Chargers
McConkey is owned in most leagues, but he's being dropped in a few leagues after an injury-riddled beginning to his season. He had been dealing with a foot injury, and was knocked out of Week 6 with a concussion.
He has played in five games so far, but only played 45.6% of the team's offensive snaps. McConkey has 13 catches across 18 targets for 200 yards and a touchdown. He has just one catch for 17 yards across three targets since Week 4.
It's been a struggle for McConkey this season, and the Chargers in general. LA is off in Week 7, so you aren't going to be able to start McConkey anyways. I think he suits up in Week 8 after getting some extra rest to work past that concussion, so I'd hold him at least through Week 8.
If he's eventually ruled out for Week 8, then I'd understand dropping him, but he's just too talented a receiver to drop this early in the season. Injuries have slowed him, but maybe he can get rolling a bit after the bye week.
Hold out hope on McConkey one more week, and then we can reassess things after Week 8.
