After checking in on fantasy closers on American Leagues teams, let's take a peek at how things are shaping up in the National League.

Here was the last NL closer report.

Explore the best in-season tool to manage lineup/start decisions including waiver pickups, projections, trade suggestions, trade value charts, rest of season rankings, power rankings, and tons more with Fantasy Assistant.

Mets

Edwin Diaz leads the Mets and is the team's go-to closer.

He's pitched in 25 games and earned 13 saves so far this year. Diaz has a blown save and 3-0 record, along with a 2.49 earned run average over 25 1/3 innings. He's struck out 39 batters over his time on the bump.

Diaz blew a save in his most recent appearance, but also got the win in that game. He's in no danger of losing the closer role.

Phillies

Jordan Romano leads Philly in saves now. He's taken over since the 80-game suspension for Jose Alvarado.

Romano has allowed a run on both of his outings this month, and took his second loss in his last appearance. He's 0-2 with eight saves, two blown saves and five holds on the season.

Romano has 30 strikeouts over 22 2/3 innings, along with a 7.54 ERA. He'd been pitching better, but has now allowed five runs over his past five appearances, so he's trending down again.

The closer situation in Philly might heat back up if Romano can't right the ship soon.

Nationals

Kyle Finnegan has 17 of the 18 Washington saves this season.

He's 0-1 with three blown saves and a 2.49 ERA on the season. Finnegan has 19 strikeouts over 21 1/3 innings.

Finnegan worked a scoreless inning in his last appearance. He had allowed runs (two of the three unearned and in extra innings) in three straight games before that.

Finnegan is the go-to closer for Washington. He's a bit undervalued in fantasy, and is owned in about 80% of leagues overall.

Braves

Raisel Iglesias has been the Atlanta closer this season, but an epic bullpen collapse on Thursday forced the Braves to call up Craig Kimbrel.

Iglesias is 3-5 with eight saves and four blown saves across 25 games this season. He's got a 6.75 ERA over 24 innings, and has struck out 25 batters.

Kimbrel hasn't pitched in the big leagues this season, but immediately might become the go-to guy in Atlanta. He has a career 2.59 ERA and 440 saves, but posted a 5.33 ERA over 57 appearances with Baltimore last season.

The Atlanta closer role will be worth watching daily going forward. Kimbrel could become a big-time waiver pickup if he excels and closes games right away, while Iglesias might become a big drop candidate.

Marlins

Calvin Faucher and Jesus Tinoco are tied for the team lead at four saves.

Faucher has saves in two of his past three appearances, and continues to work late in games. Tinoco hasn't had a save since May 14, and hasn't worked a ninth inning since that day.

Faucher looks like the Miami reliever to add if you want saves, but the team doesn't win enough to support any fantasy reliever outside extremely deep leagues. Avoid all the relievers in Miami if you can, and that might remain true for the rest of the season.

Cubs

Daniel Palencia has become the Cubs' closer of late.

He has all five of his saves over his past five appearances. He hasn't allowed a run in any of those games, but also hasn't pitched since the last day in May.

Ryan Pressly has settled in a bit, and while he's working the later innings, he's not getting save chances. Porter Hodge is still out with his injury, but could throw a wrench in things when he's back.

Palencia is the Cubs' reliever to own for now in fantasy, and the save chances should pick up soon for him. We'll have to wait until Hodge is back to see if Palencia retains the closer role, and then we can decide who to own and how many leagues to add them in.

Cardinals

Ryan Helsley continues to lead St. Louis from his closer role.

He's got a 2-0 record, 13 saves, three blown saves and a 3.27 ERA over 22 innings. Helsley has 23 strikeouts along the way.

Helsley blew a save on Thursday, but it's not anything too concerning at this point.

Brewers

Trevor Megill is the only Brewer with more than one save.

He's 0-2 with 12 saves and just one blown save on the season. Megill has a 2.21 ERA and 22 punchouts over 20 1/3 innings.

Unless he's pitched too many days in a row or is nursing an injury, Megill is the go-to guy in Milwaukee. The Brewers are hot right now, so his fantasy value has been on the rise.

Reds

Emilio Pagan has a stranglehold on the closer role in Cincinnati.

He's 0-2 with 15 saves, two blown saves and a hold over 27 appearances this year. Pagan has a 3.71 ERA and 31 punchouts over 26 2/3 innings.

He isn't a super elite option right now, but I think there's a good chance he's traded to a contender at the deadline. Pagan's fantasy outlook could improve if that happens, but right now, Pagan is a good deep-league asset at least, despite being on a not-so-great team.

Pirates

David Bednar is the go-to closer for Pittsburgh, just like he was to start the season.

He's 0-4, but has seven saves, no blown saves and three holds over 23 games. Bednar has 27 strikeouts over 19 2/3 innings and sits with a 4.12 ERA.

Bednar hasn't allowed a run in his past five games, in which time he's earned three saves. He's taken the closer role back from Dennis Santana, who has five saves on the season, but is trending down now.

Dodgers

Tanner Scott has 11 of the 19 saves for Los Angeles.

He had been struggling for a bit, but has two scoreless outings in a row, with a win and a save in that span. Scott has a 1-2 record, five blown saves and holds and a 4.40 ERA over 28 2/3 innings overall. He also has 33 strikeouts.

Scott is owned in about 85% of leagues, and he's trending back up after a shaky end to May/start to June. The situation is still one to keep tabs on, but Scott still seems like the Dodgers' go-to closer.

Padres

Robert Suarez continues to be the go-to guy for the Padres.

He's 1-1 with 19 saves and two blown saves across 27 games this season. Suarez has a 1.98 ERA and 29 strikeouts over 27 1/3 innings.

Suarez allowed five runs in one appearance, but has surrendered just two other runs in his over 26 showings. He's an elite fantasy closer this season so far, and he might be able to continue that on a great team.

Giants

Ryan Walker leads the Giants with 10 saves, but Camilo Doval is the new closer for San Fran.

Doval has a 3-1 record, eight saves, three blown saves and seven holds across 29 appearances this season. He's got a 1.61 ERA and 25 punchouts over 28 innings. He blew a save on June 3, but saved a game on June 5 and has three saves over his past four appearances.

Doval is the fantasy reliever you want from the Giants right now. He's owned in 68% of leagues right now.

Walker is also at 68% owned. He's pitched in 26 games, going 1-3 with 10 saves, two blown saves and four holds. Walker has 20 strikeouts over 22 1/3 innings.

This is a situation to still watch, but Doval has a grasp on the closer role for now.

Diamondbacks

Shelby Miller has six of the team's 20 saves so far, and that leads Arizona. Justin Martinez has five saves, with A.J. Puk has four.

Puk is still on the injured list, so it's been Miller and Martinez leading the way in the later innings of late.

Miller has two holds and a save this month, and hasn't allowed a run in five straight appearances. He has a 3-1 record, three blown saves, eight holds and a 1.75 ERA over 25 2/3 innings. Miller has 27 strikeouts as well.

Martinez has saves in back-to-back appearances, but allowed a run over 1 2/3 innings during his last save. He has a 1-2 record, a blown save and four holds over 16 games and 14 2/3 innings. Martinez has a 3.68 ERA and 20 strikeouts as well.

I think Martinez is the guy you want to own right now, but he and Miller might split the closer role, especially if the D-Backs keep using Martinez to get more than three outs.

This is another closer situation to watch.

Rockies

The Rockies won three games in a row this week, and used a different reliever to close out each victory. Colorado won't play Miami every game, so don't expect the wins to keep coming.

For fantasy purposes, there's no guessing what reliever of Zach Agnos, Seth Halvorsen or Tyler Kinley the team might use in a save situation.

They are all options in the deepest of fantasy leagues, but the team likely won't ever win enough to roster in more leagues.
