Let's look at five starting pitchers in action on Friday who have good matchups and are widely available in fantasy leagues.

Most stats are from MLB.com, as are the probable pitchers. The full streamer rankings are listed at the bottom.

Sean Burke, Chicago White Sox @ Baltimore Orioles

Zach Eflin, Baltimore Orioles vs. Chicago White Sox

Two teams here in the same place but who started the season on opposite sides of the spectrum. The White Sox set records in futility last year, so it's not a surprise to see them at the bottom of most offensive stats. Spoiler alert: they'll probably be back here next year too.

The Orioles were a top-five offense last year and were expected to compete in the ultra-tough AL East again. Not only are they losing (last in the division, just 1.5 games better than Chicago), but Baltimore is also hitting like a bottom-10 offense, maybe even bordering on bottom-five, though they do hit home runs.

Burke has been several percentage points worse than average with both walks and strikeouts in 73 career innings. He was a little better in a short span last year, but Burke has been a below-average pitcher this season. He has been OK, but those underlying numbers will cause issues if he doesn't get on the right side of things.

Eflin is good with walks, and he's usually a good strikeout pitcher, but that latter number has been way below average in 2025. There's hope he can improve over a longer stretch, but that has been part of Eflin's struggles this year, as he has an ERA near 5.50.

Burke and Eflin are both low- to mid-level streamers. Eflin gets the advantage because his matchup is better and he has a longer track record of success, but I'm not overly excited with either guy here.

Matthew Liberatore, St. Louis Cardinals @ Texas Rangers

Liberatore is becoming something of a regular here: he has made recent starts against the Royals and Pirates, teams we often target. He was owned in barely any fantasy leagues at the beginning of the season but has seen a surge based on an ERA under 3.00, a miniscule walk rate, and an average strikeout rate. This type of continued performance is going to put Liberatore on the map for all fantasy owners.

The Rangers are bad at everything. They rank in the bottom 10 in runs, hits, doubles, walks, batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, and OPS. They are dead last in hits, doubles, on-base percentage, and OPS; Texas also ranks in the bottom five in runs, walks, batting average, and slugging.

Liberatore is a mid- to high-level streamer. He has looked really good, and Texas just continues to struggle mightily to put together any kind of functional offense.

David Peterson, New York Mets vs. Colorado Rockies

Peterson is the lucky pitcher who gets to face the Rockies today. Colorado is probably the worst team in the league, and that extends to the offense, where they rank in the bottom 10 in essentially every offensive box stat and first in most batter strikeouts. That sets a high ceiling for opposing pitchers, and their lack of excellence anywhere else just add to the great matchup.

Peterson walks a few too many guys, but he's also a good strikeout pitcher, setting a nice ceiling of his own. His 2.90 ERA in 121 innings last year looked like an outlier based on his career numbers, but he has continued that level of performance into 2025, making Peterson a more popular fantasy player (owned in about half of leagues).

Peterson is a high-level streamer. The matchup couldn't be better, and Peterson has looked really good this year and last, raising his own level as a streamer who is getting more love from fantasy owners.

Jose Soriano, Los Angeles Angels @ Cleveland Guardians

Soriano has been several percentage points worse than average with both walks and strikeouts this season. He's better with Ks over his career, but Soriano has also had a little control trouble at times, and that has been the case in 2025 (11% walk rate versus league average around 8-9%). He's been doing well with run prevention, but Soriano is another guy who could help himself out by straightening out his rates and at least getting to a middling level.

Cleveland is like Baltimore (and Texas to a lesser extent) in that they hit home runs but don't really do anything else well. A team who has regularly put together good teams and lineups the past few years is finally feeling the effects of losing so many good hitters, ranking in the bottom 10 in pretty much everything except homers.

Soriano is a mid-level streamer. The matchup is good, and Soriano has better strikeout work in his past, so there's hope he can perform better there moving forward.

Friday's Streamer Rankings

  1. David Peterson, NYM
  2. Matthew Liberatore, STL
  3. Jose Soriano, LAA
  4. Zach Eflin, BAL
  5. Sean Burke, CWS
